Probably because they are very heavily setting up a new generation of characters while older characters are taking a backseat.
It isn't an issue on its own, but these new characters don't seem that strong, despite all the screentime they've been given.

The fourth one is surprisingly OK because they dialed that shit down for the most part and the drama is more political in nature. It's basically what I imagined the show would be from the start. Ed was great.
But I always felt the writers hated him. Like they tried to humiliate him and gave him constant nerfs, but because the actor had so much rizz, he still came off as likeable.
Contrast how they write every female character in this show. They are nearly all perfect and most of their issue come from male superiors. Even if they do something questionable, the story tries to morally justify it, like Ed's wife cheating on him for no reason.
I also don't think the writers know how arrogant their characters are. Like in this episode, Aleida reveals her husband is passionate about making music with his band, and then she proceeds to shit on the quality of it. Which is really mean-spirited and doesn't make this character any favors.

The feminism has really hurt the show. It already feels incredibly dated today, nevermind how it'll be ten years from now. Probably could've gotten away with it in the 90s or early 00s when that shit hadn't worn out its welcome in society yet.
