It is. The only reason it outclasses Harakiri as greatest samurai movie is because it's rewatchable. Harakiri loses a lot of luster once you know what's going on.

As is Harakiri, but honestly they are completely different vibes. Harakiri is probably the most intense film I have ever seen and I love rewatching them both. Sort of a nicest person you'll ever meet/twisted fucking psychopath kind of thing.

Yeah but watching the movie for the first time and letting it take you for the journey is what really makes it magical. That's lost on rewatches.
