It was depressing to see the "so bad it's good" crowd heap ironic praise on this. I don't want a Matrix that's funny because it's shit. I want one that's good because it's good. This was the last chance to make a decent sequel before the cast completely aged out, and they fucking blew it. No wonder Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving gave this clownshow a wide swerve.

NTA, but clearly it was reiterating what "The Matrix" actually is, an allegory for power structures you cannot escape. It seems to filter a lot of people who just obsess over the flashy bullet time sequences of previous movies. I think it's important to point out that the 2nd and third movies weren't that good either, the fourth is on the same level as those two.
