The dumbest meme that internet critics ever popularized was that a laughtrack = bad. It's just supposed to get you in a giggly mood and it's effective at it. Sitcoms in general are about instilling a feeling similar to spending time with friends or family, and laughter is just a part of it. But to this day spergs think the purpose of the laugh track is to serve as some kind of cue as to when a joke is supposed to be funny
