Safe to say the best Imax experience I've had. Worth it just for the sound alone.

>>219859389The 1997 animated film Anastasia is considered by critics and analysts to be a work of pro-monarchist, pro-capitalist propaganda that sanitizes the Romanov dynasty. By blaming the Russian Revolution on a fictionalized, evil sorcerer (Rasputin) rather than systematic societal failure, it masks the brutal realities of the Tsar's rule and ignores historical context, offering a fairytale happily ever after for a deposed, autocratic family. The film reduces the complex, violent Russian Revolution to a curse initiated by the villainous Rasputin. This avoids portraying the Bolsheviks as acting on behalf of a suffering populace. The Romanovs are depicted as relatable, charming, and loving, omitting the historical realities of their rule, such as widespread poverty, war-driven starvation, and their own political failures. The film was released shortly after the Cold War, often portraying the era's communist and socialist movements in a strictly negative light while glorifying the luxury of the Tsarist past. The story is based on a debunked myth that Anastasia survived the 1918 execution, which, when combined with the romanticized imagery, creates a nostalgic longing for a restored monarchy rather than a democratic future.
>>219859528Thanks gork!
>>219859340Yep, no doubt.
>>219859389Excellent taste, it's also the only foreign film where I prefer the dub.https://youtu.be/vTYQrPYARwQ?si=PB0Ztg9ue8b7O7D5There's nothing about this movie and scene that caters to me specifically but it's just too great for me not to acknowledge it.

>>219859340Still missing half the story
>>219859340I thought I missed it but it's just not showing in the US. What a fuckload of bullshit. Anyone know if it will?
>>219859340Looks like this is playing at my local IMAX for only 2 days; but it's on a weekend. I prefer going to the movies in the morning during a weekday (since I'm unemployed and there's fewer people around). I did torrent Akira in 4K already though, and I have it on VHS and Blu-Ray too.
>>219861748Keep checking your local listings, thought it was only a UK and Ireland thing but it's being shown in Australia next month so an American showing isn't off the table.
>>219859340I watched the 4k Remux with a shitty audio in spanish lol

>>219864032Tat Saar Uooo!!
I just went and saw it the other night and groups of zoomers kept walking in about half an hour into the film and I swear to god every person went for a piss twice. They missed half of it and then probably thought it was shit because they didn't understand it or didn't want to read subtitles. It was incredible to see it on the big screen but cinemas need to invoke a lead pipe policy which is if you don't treat maybe the only 20 perfect movies they ever made with the reverence they deserve then an usher should be allowed to bash your skull into shards with a lead pipe. The worst thing about going to the movies these days is the movie, the second is the audience. There needs to be two age ratings for a film, one for it's age rating and the second to say if you were born after 2011 because you have no cultural literacy unless subway surfers is playing at the same time. Fuck Zoomers
>tranimeGrow up
>>219859528>blaming the Russian Revolution on a fictionalized, evil sorcerer (Rasputin) rather than systematic societal failure>creates a nostalgic longing for a restored monarchy rather than a democratic future.Yeah man, everyone sure is better off in the second half of Dr. Zhivago.I am not exaggerating when I say every communist needs to be summarily executed with extreme prejudice and brutality.
>>219859528Weren't the bolsheviks largely a jewish clique? Should Anastasia have depicted that "context"?
>>219861615It's okay, the story is shit. The art hard carries the manga.
