The movie wasn't great but it had a nice style to it and the nasty gory stuff was good. I agree that the entire prologue was uneccesary, movie should've started with the plane crash and like a small scene of Katie's disappearance that doesn't reveal as much shit, then the mystery plot would've actually been properly mysterious. The parents were definitely retarded although if you watch true crime shit and such - stranger things happened. Them flying her way back to New Mexico tho, that's a bit silly, they should've just been living in Cairo still. Yeah the film is a "posession" movie but like...that doesn't make it a non-mummy movie. A mummy movie isn't some genre with strict rules. There's mummification in the film and it's related to Egypt (with lore stuff in the film even) that's more than enough. In fact it really utilized the body horror aspect of mummification well. A lot of the shit in the video is just nitpicking because they have to pad out the video. Complaining about wooden stairs cause they're not "authentic" for that type of a house, come the fuck on.
