What am I in for?
>>219873927Popeye, duh.
Pure sovl in movie form
>music by harry nillssonYOU PUT DE LIME IN DE COCONUT
>>219873927Imagine being Shelley Duvall going from The Shining set to the Popeye set.And people wonder how she went crazy, that's enough to get anyone into psychosis.
Not bad as far as musicals go. I just dislike them.
>>219873927>blow me down>its cummingI've never seen a children's movie poster that could be mistaken for a porn parody.
>>219874025Actual music by Van Dyke Parks - which is even better.
>>219874077Has anyone been more perfectly cast than she was in both of those movies though? I can’t think of anyone better.
>>219874077the horror
>>219874392She is perfect for both those movies, but the behind the scenes legends behind both those movies.... that's the perfect way to end up spending your last 3 decades functionally as a jumpy cat.
>>219873927Borderline INO film that does not resemble the Fleischer/Paramount shorts due the same fucked up licensing issues that result in all of the Adams Family films and shows not resembling the 1960s TV show
>>219874511actors cant look like drawings
>>219873927Arthouse masterpiece unironically.
>>219874511didnt look like the comics but thats pretty much what got adapted
>>219874611Altman never missed
>>219873927a disappointment
>during production, producer Robert Evans was arrested for trying to buy cocaine>to avoid jail time, Evans pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor in federal court. As part of his plea bargain, he was required to produce an anti-drug PSA>it became a star-studded TV special titled Get High on Yourself, funded in part by Evans himself. He later admitted to still using cocaine while producing this campaignthe making of this film is crazy
>>219874665>He later admitted to still using cocaine while producing this campaignlol based
>>219874665Robert Evans was a cocaine powered engine.
>>219874665on a related subject, the 2002 biopic "The Kid Stays in the Picture"; is worth watching. Robert Evens spends most of his time talking like he's in a Dashiell Hammett novel. Here's the trailer:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLatU-2Hu_EDustin Hoffman also based his performance in "Wag the Dog" on Robert Evans, and was known to do an imitation of him; caught here on one occasion:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sAn-k8OzY_Y
need subtitles for like 80% of Popeye's dialogue
>>219873927A musical that is somewhat faithful to the material that launched Popeye originally. As an adult I appreciate it more than I did as a kid. As a kid in the 1980's, I was constantly irritated any moment that Popeye wasn't kicking ass.
Humorous movie with fun performances, especially Duvall. Solid 7
>>219874665>>219874871Robert Evans was one of the most kino individuals involved in movie business.
