Is there a zoomer version of this movie? Just themes of growing up is all I'm looking for.
>>219880905The world depicted in this movie was absolutely destroyed by like 2012ish. The hellish zoomerscape of the 2010s onward can't make any sort of analogous art to this
>>219880905Do a keyword search on imdb for coming of age and sort by year or pick date range>>219880945so tired of this bot
>>219880963>so tired of this botis it wrong
Nigga, they're already grown up.Go watch My Girl, Bridge to Terabithia, Stand By Me, etc.
>>219880945keep your retarded nihilistic doomer opinions on reddit loser
The only zoomer coming of age movies I can think of are I Saw the TV Glow and Booksmart, Hollywood is just not making these kinds of movies anymore and it has left a deep void in pop culture
>>219880905I watched this movie just once as a young teenager, and I don't have a clear memory of it. What I do remember is that dad absolutely hated it and found the characters to be completely contemptible. Some guy steals jewelery off a corpse's body or something, then they go "find themselves" and yell into a ditch or something. Ian Holm was the shrink dad? The lead confronts the shrink dad over problems? I don't know.
>>219880905Tons of coming of age movies out there. Unless you're looking for this specific 2000s melancholy vibes. Coming of age movies were much more optimistic in the 80s, started to turn more pessimistic in the 90s.
>>219881031How do you even make a coming of age movie anymore?
>>219881487They make them with women as the protags now. They are massively cringe, or at least look that way. Young guys wanting to have sex and the hijinks that ensues is key to most of them. Stand By Me is slightly different and works without the sex but they still talk about girls.
>>219881487Joker
>>219880905The closest thing I can imagine is any John Green adaptation. But even those books/films are coming up on one or two decades. The Holdovers is a really good one, and came out recently, but it takes p place in the past. I can't name any modern zoomer specific coming of age films.
>>219880905S1 of The End of the Fucking World maybe? But that came out in 2017, dunno if you will relate.
