Came out in 1997. The trilogy VHS boxset was my Christmas present when I was 12. This was how I became a Star Wars geek. Maybe Lucas went too far in some of the CGI additions, but it still looked ten times better than the original.

Real talk: Colin Cantwell's starfighter models don't look too good these days. The CG replacements make a big improvement to the Death Star trench run. They're more detailed, but they also dive and yaw more realistically. In the originals the ships sometimes look like they're being hoisted along wires. Especially the Falcon.
