I think it was like that because the story focused more on if she could be considered the real RIpley or was another new person than on showing her fighting with a Xenomorph.

You basically answered your own question. They hype her up as this bio-engineered gigachad Ripley and then spend the whole movie having her brood, play basketball, and angst about identity politics with a French cinematography filter over everything.

It’s classic Resurrection. Cool concepts on paper (human/xeno hybrid DNA, enhanced abilities, moral ambiguity) and then zero payoff because the script is more interested in quirky Whedon banter and carnival freak vibes than an actual cathartic showdown.

We absolutely should’ve gotten a brutal 1v1 where she just goes feral and out-xenos the xeno. Instead we get newborn abortion horror and Ron Perlman doing backflips.

Whole movie feels like they were afraid to let Ripley actually be cool for more than 10 seconds at a time.

The funniest fact about the movie is, that Weaver actually made that shot. She had no intention of dong it for real, everyone had already agreed it would be done in post so she just threw the ball over her shoulder and in it went.
