Just skimmed some playlists of MTV videos from around 2010-2012, I don’t remember being that many absolutely stinkers. Grim. I also member when Maroon 5 were seen as a “cool” band (even for a mainstream act) when they debuted with that slightly reggae/funk adjacent sound and then just gradually declined into pop slop. Enshittification wheels really have been turning since 2001.

My personal take is that they were really good in moderation, but got way too much air time whi h soured it.
Benson Boone is the modern equivalent. Totally fine and harmless artist, but not good enough to be getting played as much as he is on the radio. Good filler artist, not a spotlight standout that should be played every hour on the hour.

I was just going to say this, i hate this freak and his gay band for doing that specific thing, which i think a few other bands did too, where the initial song is something rocky and enjoyable for men and women, but right after you say you like that band, they switch to every single song being strictly for-women-only shit so they embarrass you that you liked that one song which is long forgotten.
