I haven't read BoB in years but a few years ago I read Malarky's memoirs and he mentions quite a number of them from my recollection. The company commander at Foy was portrayed as a coward when in reality Captain Dike was seriously wounded. It's hard to lead a company bleeding out on the snow. It's fine drama but it's standard Hollywood fair. I watched the Pacific about half a year back and while there were errors and mishaps I really enjoyed it. I'm a sucker for PTO tho. I've only read Sledge's book which IIRC was published in the 70's or 80's but it was just an edited version of his diary he wrote during the war so it's a far more primary of a source. I enjoyed it.
