Banks loan money with interest.
People who buy stocks are giving money away for "free" in the hopes that the stock will raise in value or they might get dividends, either way, the company issuing the stocks gives very few assurances.

The entire foundation of the success of capitalism is that the big boss has to worry EVERY DAY about shareholders or the board of directors firing him if he fucks up. This incentivises him not to fuck up. Shareholders are happy to pay their CEO the big bucks but only if they do their job well.

>t. shareholder
>>
>>219912474
You can make better funds and drastically increase investment by not taking direct ownership (over 50%) and instead being a large majority shareholder (could be anything up to 50%), because even if you only have 40% if you're up against a dozen different mega investors who each have 5% then as long as 2-3 of those investors agree with you (or disagree with each other) you're still probably in charge. It would take 11 of them all being in agreement to force you out despite your 40% because they'd have 55% if 11 of them worked together.

Does that make sense? I may not be explaining it well. Zuckerberg is a good example, he owns about 14% of Facebook and in 2020, just five years ago, he owned 30% of it. Meanwhile Jeff Bezos? Only owns 8.2% of Amazon.

>>219912542
Close, he has a deal stating that his shares have more voting power than everybody else's shares (class A versus class B). Big companies often do this, splitting the voting power of shares into different categories.

Furthermore, the stocks market has shown itself to be much more sensitive to short term profit reports than to long term profits.

Hence his surprise. The company has his name, he never expected to be fired, but it only goes to show how mad he was on a personal level, that all of the investors reached a consensus to cast him out.

literally what happened to my family and we were only a moderately successful business for 10 years.
projected at 15-20 year mark to be sustainably rich, suddenly at around 9 years competitors just forced us out completely.

>undercut market via low cost product (less quality, cheaper, mass transactions)
>any person we tried to hire the companies would pay more than we could, but on average their AVERAGE worker got paid way less than our workers
>barrier from profit loss since they were a sub corporation just looking to make a tiny bit more profit
You can be middle class wealthy no problem, but it's basically impossible to be rich rich.
I reached upper poverty to low middle with barely any effort after only like 2-3 years.

That gap is huge though. Even doctors now despite making 200k+ a year are basically living in what were boomer low middle class houses now.

>>
>>219912737
It's practically unheard of for a CEO to do their job well.
>>
>>219912948
That's not how the game is played really. Usually the CEO will either get shitcanned or leave before things get bad. If they get canned, they'll just spin them getting fired as a good thing by not talking about that and instead talking about all their experience managing a company and how they were able to wring out X amount of gains for the last company they worked for, thus ensuring that they can get hired by a new company CEO. If they leave before the ship begins to sink, even better. We literally have a parasite class of mid-ass CEOs in this country who go from company to company sitting on top for a time before moving over to a new scam effectively. Many times they will move to a company that has no fundamental relation to the last company they were CEOs of, but this is fine because American corporate culture divorces itself from the idea of institutional knowledge pretty hard. It doesn't make for good companies, but does make for good business in the short term. It's all an effect of our gay fake service economy and will become much harder in the future when our economy inevitably collapses and only real shit companies can afford to be around because they actually produce things that people really need
>>
>>219912329

Those aren't really megacorps. Megacorps are the ones that simultaneously control all food production and distribution and make industrial products and control distribution networks simultaneously. They have so much control they can prevent any competition and completely destroy a country if they want. Amazon is close. If the rest of those companies disappeared nothing would happen. They are more or less government money laundering.
