Why was Chigurh such a dickhead to this guy? Was he perhaps a bit jealous that he married into money and had a comfortable life while Chigurh runs around shooting people in the head with bolt rifle and doing emergency surgeries on himself inside dingy motels?
>>
>>219913170
Anton is a scumsucking parasite who kills people for money. Where on earth does he get off judging other people for their life choices? He's the lowest of the low. Other sinners spit on him. He's nothing.
>>
>>219913196
Hold still please?
(ssssssssssssssssssssssssss)
>>
>>219913170
he's just having a jigsaw moment. thinks the guy wasted his life basically
>>
>>219913332
The guy has a wife and owns his own small business. He won at life, meanwhile Chigurh spends his time murdering people and getting shot at by Mexican thugs.
>>
>>219913332
Well I cant think of a better life than being married to a nice woman, raising children and responsibly going to work everyday in your own business taking care of stuff. That's mighty judgemental on Anton's part I'd reckon, he had no business killing all them folks like the chicken truck guy or threatening the motel lady neither, some straight niggerbeaner behavior.
>>
>>219913170
He was being nosey about Anton's stolen car and the direction he was heading so in response Anton asked him a bunch of personal questions and then contemplated killing him. It's really just that simple.

He wasn’t being a dickhead. Anton’s reaction to the shop owner’s response was one of pure existential vertigo. It basically contradicts his entire fatalist philosophy. The shop owner’s casual mention of "marrying into" the business represents a reality that Chigurh cannot accept or reconcile: a life entirely re-routed by a single, mundane choice. This revelation strikes at the heart of Anton’s rigid, fatalist philosophy. To Chigurh, the universe is a clockwork machine of cause and effect. He doesn’t reach for the coin toss be cruel, it is Anton’s way of restoring order. If the shop owner’s life is a series of accidents then Anton’s own “mission” lacks divine, cosmic authority. It’s all more spelled out at the end by Moss’ wife but Anton isn’t an emotional character at all in the way you believe
>>
>>219913170
Because he took notice of Chigurgh.
>>
>>219913170
His actions make a lot more sense when you realize that on top of being a psycho he's also deeply autistic
>>
>>219913719

Interesting perspective.

I believe he got irritated that the guy was paying attention to him and the car. So he starts asking a bunch of questions looking for an excuse to be able to kill him. I do believe he is a little miffed that this guy got all that he has because of marriage and luck, so he wants to put that guy's luck to the true test.

>>219913170
because it's a shit, mind numbingly dull film with no point to it designed for fart sniffers who jerk themselves off to dingy shit with 70s brown everywhere.
the whole film is people standing around like npcs in an rpg waiting to be killed by a fat retard with a fucking stupid haircut who has to drag around a 30kg cylinder on wheels with a 2 inch range.
>>
>>219913833
When Anton says
>You’ve been putting it up your whole life. You just didn’t know it
That is his way of coping with this new information. Basically
>every seemingly random mundane choice was actually leading up to your death
>>
>>219913888
i think the new call of duty movie is more up your alley
>>
>>219913888
you don't know what you're talking about
>>
>>219913833
So I just rewatched the scene and yeah he is a dick to the shop owner for being nosey but I still feel like he’s put off by the response of marrying into it because it contradicts his views
>>
this chigurh guy sounds like a real jerk
>>
I originally thought the ending with Chigur damaging his arm from the guy that ran the red light was a good one as it's supposed to shatter his beliefs or something. The idea that if the rule he followed lead him to this, what use was the rule. However, I've since changed my mind.

I don't believe Chigur would learn that. I believe he's a person that will constantly shift his belief like a psychopath would. Especially if he's able to successfully get away. Which I believe he would. Chigur would accept an amputated arm if need be. It's no different than when he took a bullet and survived.

Instead, I believe what needed to happen is an absolute display of random failure. He needs to be arrested or killed in a way completely unrelated and out of his control to in an embarrassing manner. Maybe something ironic. Something that showcases how the most impossible and unpredictable thing can happen. For example, after he kills Carla-Jean, he accidentally falls down some basement stairs, breaks his legs, and is unable to get out. He gets stuck in the wall or something. Just lying there never to be found. Nobody caught him. Nobody killed him. Just pure bad luck and he'll lay their until he's dead. Or maybe the only way he can get out is a phone right next to him. However using it would bring attention to the murder he just committed.

That's what he needs to be left with. A dilemma of death or prison, his choosing.

shouldn't have called him a Chigger
>no trust fund for old bands
>>
>"That's the way it is". Oh, so what, you're just an arbiter of truth or something? Listen, I was trying to be polite earlier but since you're so bent on 'truth', here's the reality of the situation: I ran a successful local grocery store in Temple, Texas for almost 30 years. My wifes father fell on ill health and was unable to work, and instead of the bank foreclosing on his business and property, I took over financial and fiduciary responsiblity of his estate. Now pay for your gas, those peanuts you've been eating, and get out. And as far as I'm concerned, I don't ever want to see you within earshot of this building again.

It should have ended with Carla Jean making him cook dinner

I like to think he's got a loaded remington sitting right by where his dick is

Sir?
>>
I find it amusing how the shop owner gives chigurh attitude and wins the coin toss despite looking like a total pushover. Also how Llewlyn gets his comeuppance right after he gets tempted to cheat on Carla Jean.
>>
He just hates weakness and people not being assertive with their boundaries. That old lady at the trailer home refused to give him details and he just seethed.
>>
>>219914800
>the shop owner gives chigurh attitude

When does that happen?
>>
>>219915823
Chigurh starts probing him and he gets agitated and asks if there's a problem. If he were all the way a pushover he wouldn't try to confront or dismiss chigurh at all.

Nice.
I can't help but think that if the police stop by some time later that day that he would have this story to tell them about a strange man with a funny haircut asking him a lot of personal questions and flipping a coin for some reason.

It's a friggin medaphor you dip. If you're looking at NCFoM as a straight character story instead of a deep allegory for the decay of mid-20th century American values then... just lol. You probably didn't get TWBB either. Anton isn't supposed to be a person, he represents a theme of the times. Something you'd get if you actually watched it instead of watching clips online.

>>219913719
Nah you don't get it either
