What would you do in this situation?
>>219940075jump head first to get the sweet sweet release from this mortal hell
>>219940075Get raped I guess
>>219940075This movie was kino and I'm tired of pretending otherwise
>>219940075give the wall the best fucking of its life
>>219940075Need to re-watch it.
>>219940075Any other kinos where the protagonist's perception of reality keeps getting fucked with in interesting ways (not just hurr durr sees le scary monster no one else can see)?Only other one I can think of is Oculus.
>>219940075i would listen
>>219940461post it
>>219940075if one started counting the alphabet from 0, then 1408 would have an interesting meaning. what do in this situation? stay close to the wall and hope for the best. the ledge is wide enough. i've done worse city climbing when i was 12.
>>219942138Secret Window
>>219940075Freeze for a few hours and die when my legs fail.
>>219940075Have faith in the Lord.Romans 8:38-39 KJVFor I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
>>219942138I adore this movieIt also reminds me of 1408 in that fundamental way that the protagonist is a curmudgeonly asshole that's being toyed with by something much bigger and more powerful than him, and he knows it, and he eventually isn't afraid anymore because FUCK that thing
Would have never gone outside in the first place.
>>219942164
>>219940075Why didn't he just go to sleep?
>>219940075a 360 and walk away
>>219940075Kill myself like the room wants me too I guess.
>>219940075Said "That's not in the book, faggot."
>>219940075Doesnt this movie have like 5 different endings? Ive only seen the one where he sets the room on fire
I would not even be thereI would be fucking that cute girl from the book signingI checked her tits nonstop already
>>219945160
>>219940075Die.
>>219940075I wouldn't do anything. I would return to my room and that's what the protagonist also did.
The real question is, which one is the best ending
1408 is one of the very few horrors where the ending with surviving is so much better than the dying one.The whole movie changes once you understand why he is doing it all, why he visits the places and searches for something being out there
>>219945442>He's searching, maaanYou know his brother was eaten by wolves on the Connecticut Turnpike?
>>219945461everyone knows
>>219942138Its my absolute favorite genre of horror. I also love occulus.I think grave encounters is like that. Haven't seen it in a while.
>>219942138
>>219940075rape
>>219945935One of the few movies years where the black guy is likeable
>>219945935I like what Grave Encounters tries to do, but it turns into a bit of a slog in the middle.
>>219940075I don't know what this is but it looks like there's a couple of vending machines right next to him, so I supposed I'd get a soda.
>>219940075>The story on which this film was based was almost never written. Stephen King originally created the first few pages of "1408" for his non-fiction book "On Writing," as an example of how to revise a first draft. The story, however, intrigued him and he wound up not only finishing a complete draft, but he adapted it for an audio-book compilation of short stories.
>>219940461Hey this is Stephen King, not Clive Barker
>>219946747Is Clive Barker a good author?
>>219945442The happier ending is the theatrical cut, right? And yes, it's a great ending. I really liked the bit with the daughter's voice caught on the recording.I wouldn't call the movie scary really, but I really liked the aesthetic and sound design of shit. It was highly entertaining.Might have also been the last movie Cusack did actual acting in.
>>219946962wasn't the recording the director's cut?
>>219947134That's what confuses me, because I swear I saw the movie in theaters and on dvd and both times it was the recording ending. Maye I have alzheimers.I only saw the cemetery ending from youtube. And god it was corny dogshit, would have ruined the whole damn movie for me had I seen that the first time.
THE BOOKTHE BOOK ENDING YOU IDIOTS
>>219940171it had some neat visuals and the premise was alright even if it's just another "writer in isolation goes crazy!" King story i also like cusack pretty much always >WE'VE ONLY JUST BEGUNNNNNNNNNNN
>>219940075Didn't King do this same thing with Cat's Eye? What's his fixation with this scenario?
>>219940075Make my clothes into a parachute and float down to safety them get a filling and affordable whopper at my local burgerking.
>>219947213>even if it's just another "writer in isolation goes crazy!" King storyI dont see how anyone who actually saw this movie could think that, the room was very obviously real
>>219940075I would never be in this situation because I don't do stupid things and I don't go into haunted houses or anywhere near this stuff. I don't take stupid unnecessary risks, I don't care how small they are.
>>219947322oh shit thanks for reminding me it's Wednesday bro
>>219947355This.>It's an evil fucking room.
>>219946682That would have been an improvement."On Writing" has a terribly small amount of actual writing advice.
>>219946747This, the wall is not young enough
>>219945442>>219946962I dont like surviving ending. Its just not Stephen King. Jump scare ending is the true ending
>>219946115Overrated
"My brother was eaten by wolves on a Connecticut turnpike"
>>219947740I love the build up in this film. It's done so well. The soundscape as he walks down the hallway to the room. All the little opportunities he gets to change his mind. The Clay Davis scene seals his fate nicely.
>>219940075Use my umbrella as a parachute, like in cartoons.
>>219940075>>219948321This is one of my favorite horror movies, and I always find myself asking "When was the point of no return?"Several minutes into Mike Enslin's stay in room 1408, he gets an AC technician to sort the cooling issues in the room. The AC tech refuses to enter the room, but instructs Mike on how to fix it. What I'm wondering is: was this a real interaction with a real person outside of 1408's machinations, or was this fabricated by the room?If you're looking at the true point of no return for Mike Enslin - the point at which he could've walked away completely unharmed - this is important. If this was a real interaction between Mike and an AC technician, theoretically Mike could've decided the AC was too hot and left the room. If this was a fabricated interaction, then the point of no return would've been the second Mike entered 1408 and closed the door. The film doesn't make this clear, and I'm glad it didn't. But I'm interested in what you guys who have seen the movie think. Could Mike have "opted out" up until the AC tech leaves, or was he locked in the moment he set foot in 1408?
>>219940075Name of kino?
>>219948773
>>219948752The story about the maids that clean the place imply that it's on the minute the door closesBut also that time it chose to close the door on purpose to be a dick
>>219942150nobody does that
>>219949194does what?
One thing i dont understand. Why the hotel stuff didnt check on him multiple times? They knew room is evil and deaths occur there so why they didnt check what is his condition from time to time. Surely, at one point he will check out. They left him to die.
>>219945442I prefer the ending with the tape recorder. The other one is alright the jumps are was always meh to me compared to it
>>219948752The point of no return is when the clock starts to count down 1 hour
>>219942164I know what you're talking about anon. I don't have it saved though. Maybe another oldfag is lurking.
>>219948752I always took it to be his last chance. Carries more weight that way.
>>219942138Session 9
>>219940075
>>219942138Identity. It even stars John Cusac
>>219945063haha nerd
>>219948156average amount of rated
>>219940097
