What was the importance of the cab Will took to Bel-Air? Why was a quarter of the intro dedicated to the description of the taxi ride? Did this come up later in the series or were taxis a common target of jokes in the 90s? The reason he left his original neighborhood, "the one little fight that made his mom scared", was given less description than the taxi ride:
>I whistled for a cab and when it came near
>The license plate said 'Fresh' and it had dice in the mirror
>If anything I could say that this cab was rare
>But I thought "Nah, forget it, yo, Holmes, to Bel-Air!"
>I pulled up to a house about seven or eight
>And I yelled to the cabbie "Yo', Holmes, smell ya later"

And why did he kick that cat into the sewer?
>>
>>219944538
maybe the cat talked about his bald wife too.
>>
the taxi driver was supposed to be a major character but they changed it at the last minute
>>

The cab driver is latino. Blacks disrespect all other minorities.
>>

The license plate said "FRESH" and had dice hanging from the mirror. This is unorthodox for cab driver and would never be seen on a cab on the east coast or Philadelphia. The cab is emblematic of the land of fags he's just walked into.
>>

but isn't the cab ride cut short in the actual intro to the show?
>>
>>219944501
I thought he yelled to the cabin and the cabin got scared and a guy started shooting

Y le dije al taxista ponte deshodorante

It's a metaphorical, retard. The cab is taking him to heaven after he died in the fight.
>>
Is the remake good?
>>
Was that a racist dig at the taxi driver in that last line
>>
What the hell does “rare” mean in Ebonics?
>>
>>219944501
Cabs are very commonplace in the cuckold community... why do you think he has the camera?
>>
He took a cab from Philadelphia to Bel Air??? No way. Don't believe it.
>>
>>219945552
The full version has him taking a flight in first class that his "poor" mum paid for

>I whistled for a cab and when it came near
Zachariah 10:8. Will is being called to gather and to be redeemed in the eyes of God.
>The license plate said 'Fresh'and it had dice in the mirror
Will is getting a 'fresh' start. Cleansed of sin. The dice is a reference to 16:33 where his path is in God's hands. In a way, the cabbie represents God carrying Will to salvation with his family.
>If anything I could say that this cab was rare
Will has never or rarely been redeemed or sought redemption. So this experience is new and pleasant to him.
>But I thought "Nah, forget it, yo, Holmes, to Bel-Air!"
Bel is a title in Assyrian and Babylonian denoting god, lord or master. Will is seeking direct salvation.
>I pulled up to a house about seven or eight
Proverbs 78. 'He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to teach to their children,'. Will is taught to be a man by Uncle Phil, and instructed in the way of God.
>And I yelled to the cabbie "Yo', Holmes, smell ya later"
Will is telling god to 'Smell him later' which is a convivial way of saying "Goodbye" to someone you love.

I hope you understand the importance now.

Will could’ve had Nia Long or Stacey Dash and he chose some bald cunt who fucks his son’s friends? What was he thinking?

some good bits in that one

his first experience of LA before meeting the family in Bel Air and a prelude to how drastically different it would be going forward compared to his previous life in Philly, which is now a footnote

Lol
>>
It's what inspired him to go by the alias "Fresh Prince", and it's what isekai'd him to the magical land of Bel Air, it's pretty significant
>>
>>219944501
The original song is much longer and a lot of the middle of the song is cut out which disproportionately gives more overall time to the cab ride which is only left in because it's also the verse that concludes the story where Will is now at his new home
