>filler episode is everybody favourite when did filler in TV drama stop being accepted? People where sperging out about the fly episode in breaking bad but Sopranos was full of them and nobody complained. People like them in fact, not just pic related but almost comically uneventful and short christmas special too.Is it because sopranos is an actually good show and vreaking downvote is overrated trash?
>>219944884Because everyone likes Paulie
>>219944884it's comfy
>>219944884Sopranos is way more episodic and full of self contained episodes compared to later hour long dramas made since. so when they randomly go to Italy or have a whole episode wandering around in the woods it doesnt feel so out of place
>>219944884No one cared about "filler" until the last 15 years or so. Because TV series were something to be consoomed as fast as possible for their plot. There's no attention span left to experience deeper themes and meanings since audiences started watching at 1.5x speed while scrolling social media. Every episode needs huge spectacles and character deaths or the viewer gets bored. When a show delivers consistently like Breaking Bad, a slice of life detour like "Fly" makes modern audiences angry because it denies them their quick fix. They'll watch it at 3x speed, skip scenes, or skip the episode entirely if they hear it's "filler". Then they'll go on reddit and post about not getting their ADHD dopamine hits, completely missing out on the much more meaningful aspects of the episode and how they tie into the show thematically.
>>219944884I wouldn't call the Pine Barrens episode a filler. It was a continued episode of the relationship between Chris and Paulie. They were great together onscreen and had some crazy dialog between them.
Pine Barrens was goodThe Fly suckedHope that helps
>>219947659the fly is a great movie, pleb
>>219947556OP thinks he's an interior decorater.
people started complaining about filler when every TV show started being written like a 10 hour long movie instead of a TV show
>>219944884Most of the episodes are “filler” episodes anonIt was a tv show, not an 8hr movie
>>219944884its a light hearted episodelater soprano seasons get miserable to watch
>>219948072when seasons were longer, like 12 plus episodes random filler wasnt a big deal. but now some shows are only like 6 or 7 episodes a year so it feels like a waste to have filler
>>219944884Bottle episodes aren't filler retard.Filler episodes are ones that meandre and have no effect on the charactersBottle episodes have a full 3 acts, large stakes and a resolution that imprint themselves on the characters well after it's done... plus I am pretty sure the events of this episode are referred to by the characters in the later episodes.
probably since binge watching became possible
>>219948072trvke
>>219944884Sopranos doesn't have "filler" episodes because the majority of that show is just characters interacting with each other in mundane ways, but because the acting and writing is good, it's a good watch.
>>219948042His house looked like shit.
>has an entire episode dedicated to the FBI trying to plant wired phone in the houseBased. Nowadays on a show it would be 7 episodes of the FBI trying to plant shit, failing and then coming close before some retarded cliffhanger you have to wait two years for a bullshit cop out in the 1st episode of the new season
