>>219945250this is so retarded. explicit uses of the force onscreen are not cool and lead to inevitable capeshit powerscaling fuck off scenarios and lucas was right to keep it limited. the force speed dash thing in TPM was going too far and thankfully he never brought that back in the next 2 films.

old wars>the force is so mystic and you can talk to ghosts, lift shit and get discounts at storesnu-wars>the plot says i have to go from point A to point B>i cast whatever magic spell i need to get there>aint gotta explain shit>its magic
>>219945250X-Men (2000) did it better.
>>219945866>explicit uses of the force onscreen are not cool and lead to inevitable capeshit powerscaling fuck off scenarios and lucas was right to keep it limitedoriginal trilogy did this right with the progression of obi-wan, then yoda, then vader, then palpatine. calling upon the force requires a mind over matter concentration that takes time and energy and which luke struggles to do as a novice, and anything beyond moving a small object or having a sixth sense or whatever is usually limited to a single scene, like obi-wan hypnotizing the stormtroopers, vader choking the admiral (he only does this once in the first movie), yoda pulling the x-wing out of the swamp, or palpatine shooting lightning from his hands. even when luke and vader duel in empire they both only use the force once, luke to jump out of the pit and vader to fling debris at him. as soon as you turn it into superpowers that jedi and sith can instantly use at any time without getting exhausted you diminish what made it evocative in the first place.
