Where should I start with Woody Allen.I'm afraid of starting with Annie Hall and finding the rest of his filmography lame in comparison when it deserves some appreciation.Should I work my way up to Annie Hall or just watch his one hit?I already saw the one about the commie blacklist which was just okay. Woody Allen seemed like a discount George Costanza in that one.
>>219947249Watch Manhattan. If you can stomach how jewish this movie is, then you are free to watch Annie Hall
>>219947249Antz
>>219947249His 80s and early 90s stuff is his best. Annie Hall and to a lesser extent, Manhattan, are kinda propped up by always being on the 'top 100 films to see before you die' type lists. People will only watch those Allen films, and then just repeat that those are the ones you need to watch to others. They are fine films, but not the end all be all.
>>219947249> Where should I start with Woody Allen.don't, just watch anything else.grass growing on the side of the road is more engaging and interesting than this hack's films.
His 80s work is more experienced and assured than his dilletante 70s work. Start with Crimes and Misdemeanours for a wiser and more worldly Allen who is no longer high on his own supply.
>>219947249His early comedies are really good and really funny. Try Take the Money and Run or Bananas
Annie Hall is head and shoulders above the rest. That being said Manhattan is enjoyable
>>219947249if I were you I'd start with a couple of his most popular movies, just to test it that's my thing, and if it clicks then just watch the rest chronologically, it's all good
>>219948272This. Start with his light hearted comedies.
>>219947249Casino Royale (1967)He has a small role in it, and depending on how annoying you find him you'll be able to decide if his directorial efforts (in which he is inevitably the main character playing a slightly fictionalized version of himself) are worth your time.
I really like Sweet and Lowdown
Crimes and Misdemeanors was extremely tediousYou're better off watching his appearance in Club Random
The Purple Rose of Cairo is his best movie, and he doesn't appear in the film which is great
>>219948431>Woody Allen was in a Bond filmTop 10 anime crossovers.
>>219948494me too. I think it's his most underrated one. his 90s work in general is great.
>>219948745By a certain definition of Bond film, yes.
What's New Pussycat
>>219947249I would start with finding what country he currently resides in. Maybe hack a few of his emails, you can find them in the Epstein files, there's zero chance he has two-factor.Then find his daily schedule, stalk him a little bit. Then when the time is right you kidnap him and livestream playing 21 roses with him until he confesses in all the pedo rape he's done. That's how I'd start with Woody Allen.
Woody Allen is pretty impressive in the fact that all his films are watchable. I suggest starting with some 2000’s ones like Midnight in Paris, Match Point and Vicky Christina Barcelona, move back to his earlier comedies then continue chronologically.
>>219947249start by not watching any of his films.
I love that movie where he plays a version of himself who is in love with a young white girl, and everyone is okay with it.Oh wait, that's reality AND the movie Manhattan.
>>219950109He's one of the best directors of all time. Woody Allen is up there with Spielberg and Scorsese.
>>219950109agreed.>neurotic whiney jew midget lusting after teenagers
>>219947249>Where should I start with Woody Allen.By reading that he's an Amerinonce. This should be where you end with Woody Allen.
>>219947249Step 1:Watch something else.
>>219947249Well start with the baseball bat, and then if he is still somehow alive then move onto the tire iron.
>>219951503Visceral cringe.
Sleepers
>>219951503>Woody Allen is up there with SpielbergUp where? Heather O'Rourke's burst shit hole?
My favourite is "Play it again Sam"Highly recommend that one
>>219947249Based allen
>>219949916No
>>219947249Love and Death is the best one.Manhattan follows that. Annie Hall then.Everything about sex and deconstructing harry are also good.Midnight in paris, match point have their charm.
I liked Manhattan Murder Mystery and that one where Robin Williams went out of focus.
>>219947249Annie Hall is a fine starting point. His beat stuff was in the 1980s.
the 80s was his best decade
>>219947249desu he still makes decent stuff just start literally anywhere
