Connections. Your script will never get a hollywood adaptation, ever. >b-but what aboutNo. Never. Which is fine, it's ok to write for yourself or your friends, but don't be delusional.

I was writing a script for a short film in my head in bed last night and I was having trouble with literally the opening scene. I couldnt think of how to portray a backwards time skip without a tacky "3 months earlier" popup on screen. Shits hard.

>>219948007Assuming you have something that happens prior to the skip - maybe have your MC walk past a wall calendar that says April 2026. Then for your time skip use that same element but have it say January 2026, maybe they walk past it in the opposite direction. More subtle and some people might miss it if they’re not paying attention so you’d probably want to linger on the camera/slow zoom on it.

>>219947523I think what makes a good script is the believability of it I guess? I’m not talking about realism, but the inner uniformity of the logic behind the constructing parts, including the induced feeling and atmosphere with the context and the time, the being-lived-inness of it I guess? Like Chemistry between actors and but apply it to everything. So like, how can I say it, depth? The depth in terms of weather this world feels like its has its own going ons and its own people with emotions etc.

>>219948885>Scrap front page of a newspaper on the floor >Character walks past a store with daily news report on TV that has date showing >Something broken is suddenly fixed could work but may just look like someone repaired the thing>Establishing shot with radio playing that mentions time/date like Groundhog DayThere’s options

I think you kind of feel it when it's good in that you're engaged in the movie at all times and scene feels appropriately sized and paced
