Most solid 5/10 film ever.

I'd tell you mine, (no it's not Amadeus by a long-shot), but I want to see how many people come up with the same one. I already checked with other people here IRL and it's uncanny how many people came up with the same thing independently.

>I never looked that close before, but is picrel the best old makeup job you've ever seen or what?

Films I rated 5/10 aka **½

**½ THE HOUSE IS BLACK (Forugh Farrokhzad, 1963, 20m, BW)
**½ BICYCLE THIEVES (Vittorio De Sica, 1948, 89m, BW)
**½ THE SPIRIT OF THE BEEHIVE (Víctor Erice, 1973, 95m, Col)
**½ TOY STORY (John Lasseter, 1995, 81m, Col)
**½ BACK TO THE FUTURE (Robert Zemeckis, 1985, 116m, Col)
**½ AMERICAN BEAUTY (Sam Mendes, 1999, 121m, Col)
**½ UN CHIEN ANDALOU (Luis Buñuel, 1928, 16m, BW)
**½ THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (Frank Darabont, 1994, 142m, Col)
**½ FIGHT CLUB (David Fincher, 1999, 139m, Col)
**½ INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS (Quentin Tarantino, 2009, 153m, Col)
**½ MEMENTO (Christopher Nolan, 2000, 113m, Col)
**½ 12 ANGRY MEN (Sidney Lumet, 1957, 95m, BW)
**½ AMÉLIE (Jean-Pierre Jeunet, 2001, 122m, Col-BW)

So take your pick I guess.

To clarify, we'd be looking for the film that most people are 'okay' with. They neither especial like or dislike it.

I'd say 'Back to the Future' is actively liked by a lot of people above 5/10, and it's widely considered a 'good' or 'great' movie. Being solid G-rated family entertainment it comes off middle-of-the-road on that score, but I wouldn't say that was the same thing.

You just described a 6.5/10 movie.

5/10 movies are like

>movie 43
>10 000 BC
>Meet the Spartans
>Ad Astra
>Tenet

Harold Ramis is the king of 5/10s.
Had real hits, a couple memorable bombs, but pretty much anything after Stuart Saves His Family is a solid 5/10

To be fair to these old guys, they made great or good films in their era and became the standard by which everyone else was judged by, which is why it feels like Spielberg films are kinda 'run of the mill' now, but I'd say they're still 'good' films rather than 'meh'.

It's a formula you've seen one too many times, like I was watching an episode of the 'Young Indiana Jones' TV series from the 90's which he was involved in, and the very well-worn score and action shit started up and I was like meh. Doesn't take away from the original films though. They were great and still are.

Great example is 'Young Sherlock' (1985). Recognisable as this stuff is, and it's poor performance at the box office, you can't say it doesn't have some cool shit in it, and it's still a cut above average or merely competent movie making:
