When did we hit peak RedLetterMedia?
>>219948011Halloween episode where they got so shit faced they had to come back the next day to finish the episode
When Mike started stopping every Half in the Bag dead to cry and pout about how he'd fix the movie if only Hollywood would call and give him a chance. Mike is not a bridge burner by the way.
Endless Trash. Now it's only good for trivia game shows cause there's no tv or movies worth talking about.
>>219948011Can you peak if you're consistently shit?
>>219948047>aidsmoby episode was peakGrim...
>>219948011Jesse's hips
>>219948011For HitB I want to say it peaked early on, not because they've gotten worse over time but because what originally made it interesting was them using a particular (often forgettable) new release to discuss some wider issue like the evolution of a genre, a director, a Hollywood trend, filmmaking technique, etc. After hundreds of episodes they just inevitably ran out of interesting wider topics to discuss and were left with the forgettable movies themselves. The only good episodes in recent years are precisely the ones where there's a new example to talk about (like the one where they discussed the rise of the Blumhouse production model) or a rare mess of a movie like Batman v Superman
>>219948165The Jack and Jill review was peak, or at least one instance of the peak period, because it stepped outside the bounds of review to become a mini-documentary about the commercial factors that brought such films into existence. It was astronomically high-effort compared to modern HitB episodes.Best of the Worst is okay, I suppose, but I hate all the guests.
>>219948011Mr. Plinkett's 'The Star Wars Awakens Review.' Where Mike tentatively hedged his bets, knowing that his audience would have likely enjoyed the film and was not yet ready to enjoy any serious critique's of it. Instead, Mike spent 3/4ths of the video trying to poorly disprove the thesis of Rick Worley's 'You've been watching Star Wars wrong' video. There's no serial killer skits. There's no real purpose to the video beyond Mike recognizing people expect a Plinkett Star Wars video. Mike's no where near as snappy and witty as he was even five years ago. It's clearly not a joke or a jest that he's constantly drinking and he's blatantly in the full throes of alcoholism. His comedy and film knowledge has regressed. Jay Bauman is the exact same as he has been for sixteen years- and that's not a good thing. You can tell what Jay is going to say five minutes before he says it, word for word, as he'll just repeat what Mike said but as a sarcastic, rhetorical question."James Gunn really seems obsessed with dick and butt jokes, Jay.""Oh? James Gunn? You mean the guy who filmed Peacemaker at a gay orgy filled with dicks and butts? That James Gunn?" Replies Jay, every single time, before flicking his eyes over to the camera and smiling. Repeat that for sixteen years. They purchased a massive warehouse and filled it with boatloads of props, costumes, purchased industry-grade cameras, lighting rigs, etc.. And have proceeded to film absolutely fuck all in terms of sketches, skits, or anything not related to movie reviews, which is shit they could have continued to do on their old Plinkett-House set and no one would have noticed or cared. They added twenty times the amount of production space and then halved their already small production. I'm assuming it's because Mike has run out of places to hold all the shitty 1980's movie props he obsessively spends the patreon money on. Been watching for 16 years and these fags have been on the decline for half of them.
>>219948047This. Last time they seemed to have actual fun instead of this corporate horseshit and only Mike and (maybe) the guest are having a beer.
we hit peak RLM march 23, 2019 at 8:14 AM eastern time
>>219948011I might feel differently if I went back and rewatched everything, but the way I remember it, China flu was when the quality really started dipping. That's when they started doing tedious half-hour skits at the beginning of every Half in the Bag. They never really bounced back once they started doing that.
>>219948629>we hit peak RLM march 23, 2019 at 8:14 AM eastern timeWhat was happening then? Is that the date of last nuStar Wars film?
>>219948011Sometime before we realized the ironic detachment was a cover for cowardice. The whole point of their popularity was to see fresh Gen-X coded takedowns of popular things and when they started failing to do that by weak takes or avoiding reviews they lost their charm.
>>219948011The ghost hunting episode
>>219948011Mike getting brave when he has a LEGACY ARTIST sitting next to him and talking shit about other content creators.
>>219948071*and all his ideas turn the movie into Indiana Jones or Star Wars
>STOP COMMENTING ABOUT MST3K WE DIDNT STEAL THEIR JOKES
>>219948011They should just make it a channel about restoring TV and movie props. The channel unofficially ended when they tossed all the Nukie tapes in the wood chipper and actually watched the movie and realized that instead of fun bad, it was just bad bad. It’s like when after all the buildup, James finally reviewed Atari ET in his shitty AVGN movie, and it was kind of a letdown, and all the energy was gone after that.
>>219948011Would it be a bad idea to make a 2015-era BOTW using ComfyUI? The bad movies would also be generated by ComfyUI of course.
>>219949757Josh at very least had seen the Space Mutiny episode before they did that episode. Like the way he noticed with inhuman speed that they fucked up the continuity, and the chick who was killed by Calgon was alive and well on the bridge in the next scene.
>>219948011Ghostbusters 2016 was the peak.Everything after that was downhill.
>>219948294It's crazy going back and watching early HITB episodes and seeing how much effort they put into them. They were actually funny, they'd have little story sequences spliced in, there'd be cutaway gags and little skits, there was plinkett's ongoing quest to watch his night court tape etc.Now they just seem like they hate themselves.
I used to devour everything they released. Now I have to check who their guest is before watching episodes these days, because 9 times out of ten it's someone awful like that guy who does celebrity impersonations, or the quaid kid - who honestly seems like a nice guy but he is the wrong fit for that group, his humour doesn't match at all, and every time he's on, everyone is super nervous and barely drinks at all (mike especially).
>>219948047that sounds about rightI stopped watching reView because it felt like half the time neither person made an effort to actually watch the movie beforehand to refresh and they were just going off 20+ year old recollection, that and Mike constantly pulling out a ChatGPT print-out list of stuff to talk aboutBOTW spends too much time on the dumbfuck skit at the beginning and not enough on the movies themselvesBlack Void is just Mike and Jay bitching that going to the theater sucks but they refuse to say it's because of loud niggersand then the ones where they just scream in front of green screen about modern trends sucking
IM DYING LAUREN
>>219948011When they landed on the Shoji Tabuchi tape and he finally came on stage which was 12 years ago holy fuck
I'M DEAD INSIDE
>>219952035I miss the dumb ass storyline
>>219948294have you ever partaken in a creative project? it gets really tiresome on the long run and 16 years doing a show it's a long fucking time
>>219948071>Mike is not a bridge burner by the waySuck my cock, Stuckmann
>>219952668This is just not the same without continuity
>>219953595They have multiple different creative series and outlets in which they can diversify their energy and they're also completely capable of taking sabbaticals and breaks. They bought more space, more props, more cameras, more everything, and have subsequently done as little as possible with them despite having more access to people than ever before. I don't know what the fuck you're trying to say.
Is he serious about believing in ghosts?
