Dunno, this is surprisingly watchable. Why are people pretending it's the worst movie ever made? I've seen big budget Hollywood movies that were far worse.

Tommy actually makes it kinda fun but even without him it would mostly just be boring. Is it because it has one of the most realistically written female characters ever that people got upset?

The real mystery to me is how this cost 5mil to make. Does the book go more into that? Like did Greg get a huge paycheck or something?

Also the soundtrack goes hard.

I read the book years ago and can't recall the specifics, but the general problem was a lot of waste and poor decision-making, with Tommy refusing to take the more sensible and economic path because he wanted to make a REAL Hollywood movie and do things the old-fashioned way, as he understood it. Greg also hinted that Tommy was a bit shady and may have been putting the money towards old debts and other illegitimate purposes.

It's better than what the RLM frauds have ever made for sure

for me, the sex scenes are not only way too long, but boring as hell. like, if its gonna happen that much for so long i better see penetration and doggy style. but the acting is crap and the writing is nonsensical. i could see tommy being good in comedies but for a drama he stuck out like a sore thumb

The Room's "so bad it's good" rep is the epitome of millennial self-righteousness and naivete.

It has an easy, politically correct target (a white male who's been hurt by women? CRINGE!) that millennials could laugh at while patting themselves on the back. It's no coincidence that the generation who laughed at The Room was the same one who would invent cancel culture.

It would also be the generation who would support fourth wave feminism because they thought a woman like Lisa was just a ridiculous caricature, who couldn't exist in real life.

23 years later, the ideology that mocks The Room has been thoroughly discredited. It's the most honest movie about relationships ever made and deserves your respect.

It's coherent, the story makes sense and would be a solid 4/10 if it wasn't for Tommy being the way he is making it a 10/10

I think we can apply Arkhamz Razor here and say: Tommy.

I tried watching it back when the so bad its good meme was still around.

Genuinely thought this shit was boring.

I can't imagine being so stupid you can't tell why The Room is bad or funny

I don't know, that seems pretty representative of gender dynamics in 202X
