Absolutely sick of this reddit-tier idea. Pic maximally unrelated

His memories were fake. In the end, only his actions mattered.

>rather than discover or be gifted your humanity through fate or contrivance, earn it through suffering and your deeds even if you don't realize it at the time
It's shameful how many people got filtered by 2049.

The Bourne Identity
Tenet
Memento
Groundhog Day
Men In Black
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
Truman Show
Being John Malkovich
The 13th Warrior

Also, not kino, but first season of Westworld

>uh okay my new identity IS based on the memories I've formed since the point of departure

believe it or not /tv/ (or at least a good chunk of the contrarians here) now claims 2049 is a shitty movie. Which really just confirms that it is in fact a good movie
>>219955187
very underrated flick. I struggle to find anything seriously wrong with it and the soundtrack is amazing, that and I think the relative simplicity of the plot actually lends to the quality of the film.

Very true
That being said OP's probably looking for something like this

Also, any Bond flick before the Craig era, although I do like Craig and the fact that they decided to go with an arc and a story.

God I wish we could get sci-fi kino like this again.

don't act like /tv/ as a board doesn't have recurring issue with inane contrarianism. I tend to say that it's like the direct inverse of r/movies, where reddit will endlessly praise slop so long as it's popular, and /tv/ will inversely shit on good movies solely because they're popular. Some good examples of the latter include Dunc (and seemingly anything with Chalamet as of late), Drive, Bladerunner 2049, Project Hail Mary.

believe it or not i have never seen 2049, now I really want to check it out

Thanks for the list. I haven't seen any of those except for eternal sunshine. I remember not liking eternal sunshine when I first saw it a 10 years ago but I am weary of the cavalier approach to identity all movies I've seen recently seem to take in equating identity with memory, so I'll have to revisit it.
>>219955733
kino, forgot this one existed but I remember loving it. Unfortunately it's often presented as a better version of the matrix for non-normies when it's so much more than that.
>>219955895
The Creator (2023)? I guess that was 3 years ago now
>>219955732
Don't get me wrong, I liked Oblivion but I hate how alternate-tom cruise and other-alternate-tom cruise were accepted as real tom cruise in the end no questions asked, this ruined an otherwise decent movie for me.

> I haven't seen any of those except for eternal sunshine.
you're welcome, but how come? Are like 15yo or something?

Also, I tried watching Eternal Sunshine when it came out, but I was a teenager and didn't get it. Expected Jim to be funny. Rewatched it 5 years ago and it hit hard, one of my favorite movies.

Everything associated with project Hail Mary? Throw it all to the trash. Nobody gives a fuck about that movie anymore.

I can't say Dunc is a bad movie, but I simply haven't finished it. I watched Tenet 30 or more times though and I liked sciario and Blade Runner 2049. What I'm saying is, Dunc is legitimately very mid and boring.

>15yo
late 20s but I mostly watch current films and movies before 1990, 1990-2010 is a big void in my film knowledge
>The Bourne Identity
I don't watch action movies
> Tenet, Memento
On my watchlist, they are right up my alley so no excuses
> Groundhog Day
idk, never appealed to me
> Men in Black
I don't like will smith
> Truman show
I actually watched this several years ago, I was just sloshed so I don't really remember it
> Being John Malkovich
I don't waste my time with surreal films unless there's a good reason
> The 13th Warrior
I have legitimately never heard of this movie lol

> I don't watch action movies
Bourne Identity is more like a road trip movie really. I don't like the sequels though.

> I don't like will smith
Me neither, but I like Tomme Lee Jones and Linda Fiorentino is super hot.

> I don't waste my time with surreal films unless there's a good reason
This one is so good, I don't even know how to sell it to you. Everyone in it is just excellent and it's more like absurd comedy, really, but not without deep substance to it. I don't know, maybe you really won't like it. My female friend said she was bored up until the moment a woman was inside malkovich's head and he was in the shower and the woman was curious about his weiner and my friend got excited cos she always wanted to know how it felt. Maybe you'll find a similar hook in it too.

well a man is allowed to have his preferences. At least he's not being dismissive of older films. When I was a kid in the 90s I literally refused to watch anything made before 1985.

2049 is great
