What did /tv/ actually like about The Hobbit? I thought Smaug was really good and the movies have a comfy vibe. Most of the actors did a good job and the music was nice.

i like all three movies overall. God acting, good writing, good music. Pacing is mostly fine with a few dips
Biggest issues are the slapstick scenes, the overuse of CGI and the love triangle
>>
>>219955444
The first one is genuinely good.
The second one has some good moments (all the scenes with Bilbo and Smaug are kino)
The third one is a messy cgi slopfest
>>
>>219955444
I liked the parts where it stuck to the fucking book, which became increasingly rare as the trilogy progressed.
>>
>>219955444
The first film had an adventure feel that I Iiked
>>
I hated all of them. Fucking video game ass movies. Lemme play the game
>>
>>219956042
Just like lord of the rings
>>
>>219955444
The first one was really cozy
The second 2 films fucking sucked
>>
Bilbo was horribly miscast. Whenever someone says "oh but at least Bilbo was good" I know I'm talking to a retard who doesn't know kino.
>>

1st one was shit 2nd and 3rd were shitter
>>

He was a bit smarmy and quippy for his own good. They should have gotten Nick Frost or some other fat british goblin looking fella
>>
It dragged on for way too fucking long for a 300 page book

Even as a teenage LOTR fan I got so fucking bored during the first one because they just held onto a scene for 50 minutes that was just 30 pages in the book
>>
>>219955444
The actors did a good job with the weak script and the battle scenes in the 3rd movie are good. Everything else was disappointing. The 3rd is by far the best while the 2nd is extremely painful to sit through.
>>
>>219956042
The first one started good and absolutely shat the fucking bed once they get to Rivendell and Gandalf seperates to go on a sidequest for 30 minutes of the movie

>Smaug was really good

>"Oy Vey, Mr Jackson, we've been hearing rumours you plan to make the Hobbit in two parts and not three?"
"Yes, it's a short childrens book"
>"Oy Gevalt, what a holocaust, Mr Jackson, we are missing out on a third film worth of shekels here"
"It'll be hard to make the source material last two films, let alone 3"
>"A shoah, right here in my office, remember the 2 billion, Mr Jackson, we demand you make stuff up, invent new characters, show popular characters from Lord of the Rings, lots and lots of CGI"
"Yes, my chosen one"
>"One last thing you Goy animal, we hear the dragon has 4 legs... it only needs 2 to walk, many shekels will be saved"
>>
>>219958150
I don't think it happened like this.

some of the worst movies ever made if you like them youre a retard

proofs?

I really enjoyed the entire trilogy and have no idea why it has so much hate aimed at it. I watched the directors cut, maybe the theatrical cut is just awful or something idk.

my only real criticism of it, and I mean something I really disliked, was how they handled the entire murkwood portion. it was my favorite part of the book as a kid and the movie dropped the ball on it

Its what happened thoughever...

>What did /tv/ actually like about The Hobbit?
Nothing. It is inferior to the 1977 cartoon in literally every single way.

>The trolls are annoying
>Most of the dwarves are annoying
>Radaghast is annoying
>The Necromancer subplot goes nowhere
>The Rivendell scene is pointless memberberries (and I hate using that term)
>Everything associated with Laketown is annoying and boring
>I'm going to put Alfred into his own category. He's the Jar Jar in a movie full of Jar Jars.
>Legolas' involvement is completely inconsequential, and reminds me of Sora being awkwardly inserted into Disney stories in Kingdom Hearts
>Never at any point do I feel that Thorin and Bilbo are friends, I'm not even particularly sure that I like Thorin all that much. He just goes from being an asshole to a homicidal asshole, and then I'm supposed to want to root for him in the end.
>There's too many dwarves to really care about any of them. Balin's a nice guy, I guess.
>Smaug is good for his initial appearance, coming off just as cunning as he is destructive, but the second he starts breathing fire, he just turns into a big dumb dinosaur, and it turns into a reskinned scene from King Kong.
>Beorn is undercooked
>Bard's family is annoying
>The master is annoying
>The only way the third film is watchable is if you skip directly from Bard killing Smaug to Bilbo returning to the Shire with a trunk of gold.
>While she is the hottest elf to have ever been in one of these movies, Tauriel is an awful character with the worst subplot in the entire trilogy
>The weird-ass barrel riding sequence with the gopro shots and the Sonic the Hedgehog physics
>Seriously, why couldn't the eagles have flown them to Erebor?

Pros:
>As others have said, the early Shire scenes are comfy
>Despite being ancient by that point, Ian McKellen is still fantastic as the more wily Gandalf the Grey
>I like the dude as Thranduil, can't remember his name, he's Thragg now
>I don't hate the Goblin Town sequence, or at least the look of it. The aforementioned Sonic the Hedgehog physics kind of dock this scene a few points
