Problem with the show is that we've spent years watching, but in universe only like 3 weeks have passed since Julie and her family arrived. So yeah, we go through an entire season thinking "Boyd is gonna trap one of these things, what the fuck happened to that?" but in the Fromverse only 2 fucking days have passed, so he may well still be planning on doing it at some point this season or maybe even next season. There is no "We're gonna do X. *cuts to next scene of them doing it*" because 5 episodes later and they are still on that same day.

I really hope that in Season 5 the crazy faucet is just unleashed. I want it to be so hectic that most characters die and maybe only a few or even 1 lives by the end. I want the monsters to reveal that they could run this entire time and even jump multiple stories high. I want the monsters to reveal that the talismans never actually did anything and they just start busting into people's homes. I want the weather to go absolutely psychotic switching from rain, to snow, to hail, to blistering heat, to hurricane, etc all within like 10 seconds and just on a repeating loop. I want massive fucking spiders and whatever giant thumping thing from the cabbage village to just start going on a rampage through town. The closer our characters get to "winning" I want things to be so fucking crazy that hard ass decisions like leaving people behind because you are so terrified of dying becomes second nature. I want Boyd to look back at Kenny's dying body and knowing he can't do anything to save him and he just has to keep running. If they don't do a fantastical spectacular finale like this, I will be very sad.

I'm pretty sure everyone in this thread thinks the show is trash and are just making their own fun. Sometimes I like to post theories based on what we have seen, but its fruitless. I have never watched such an aimless show in my life. I have posted in the generals during every season and I couldn't even summarize the plot beyond "people run into a tree in the road, then detour, then get trapped in a scary village with monsters with a lot of weird creepy stuff". For me the appeal is how bad it is written, acted, paced, while being shot and directed competently, also the threads.

Seriously, dont compare this shit to Lost. Most of the small things in Lost are addressed. This show is like 10x worse than Lost when it comes to not addressing mysteries trust me, I have like an encyclopedic knowledge of that shit, there is only a handful of minor things that do not have explanations or deducible explanations.

By the way, the "from the producers of LOST" thing is a hoax. Jack Bender was a director on Lost, and From is his show, but he was only a director on Lost, not someone who had creative input on the direction/writing on it. He is basically just trying to imitate what made Lost special and failing miserably because he was never actually involved in any of the storyboarding of Lost.

Ngl I tried watching Lost after either Season 1 or Season 2 of this show and it was just so meh. I mean I've seen so many people big that show up but in the same breath say that the best part of the show was the forums and going online and spitballing theories and ideas. How far did you get? I ask because it starts off kind of slow due to networks demanding as many seasons as possible and 20+ episodes a season. That being said, its writing and cinematography holds up really well despite being 22 years old. Also, I know this is anecdotal, but my buddy and his wife just watched it all in the last two months and loved it with no interactivity so I feel like you may not have watched enough to get hooked.

On one hand, I wish Lost had shorter, tighter seasons like modern TV, but on the other hand, I am very happy it is not pozzed like modern TV. I will take the excessive run time to avoid the gay, mary sue, and nigger shit in modern TV.

I don't even think I finished the first season. I ended up dropping it and watching The Leftovers instead I think...which I really didn't enjoy that show much either. I can do slow shows but it at least has to be captivating to make me want to sit down and watch more. Like I've tried watching Twin Peaks multiple times but no matter what I get like 2-3 episodes in and I just can't stomach the shit. I know people rave about how amazing it is but the shit just puts me to sleep every single time. I sorta felt the same way about Severance but the more I watched it the more it kinda got interesting so that's what kept me going.

Thats fair anon, season 1 of Lost is a lot of establishing characters and can be pretty boring. If its not for you I get it, but I would at least try to get to season 2. The cliffhanger is an all timer and I would think anyone watching the s1 clifhanger and not continuing is clinically insane. Season 2 is really where the world/lore building starts, and if you get to season 3, you are probably in till the end. In hindsight, season 1 is the most generic and boring.

You kept watching severance despite feeling that way, you should watch Lost at least until S2 to get the same experience, keeping in mind them 2000s TV series were bloated and like double the length of your average tv show these days.

I just figured out why this series is so frustrating to watch compared to early X-files or even LOST which were just as syrupy slow in story progression:
I just dont give a shit about any of the characters, they are all boring and ugly, onedimensional, always negative, always moping around, quasi-suicidal, have nothing going on besides "WHO WUZ MONSTERS?!"
