For all its faults, Harry Potter actually has some pretty cool world building and some genuinely scary/cool monsters. There’s so much potential for more stories like in other time periods or locations but in the same universe. Why didn’t she write more books instead of just retconning everyone to be gay and then sperging out about trannies?
The real owners of this franchise know this which is why we got Hogwarts Legacy which is exactly what you’re looking for. Incidentally a 6/10 game which is an 8/10 if you’re an HP fan.
>>219972725>sperging out about tranniesA feminist arguing that feminism is something reserved for women isn't "sperging out" - it's just common sense.
>>219972725Prisoner of Azkaban (both the novel and film) will always be my personal favorite. It sucks that it ended up becoming wokeslop but hey I guess that's what everything ends up becoming. As far as more similar stories in other time periods or locations? Absolutely. I just don't think it will ever be done as well as it was in HP.
>>219972725>Harry Potter actually has some pretty cool world buildingppppppppffffffffttttttttheres a high school. wow. bold new territory. such world building. and wizards cast spells! by saying alakazaam! and they fly on broomsticks! the only worldbuilding is that they use a train station to take a magic train. which itself isnt new.
>>219972838Have some coffee, anon. You sound bitter.
>>219972725It’s held back by the fact that it was written by a woman. You can tell by the way that Harry is essentially just gifted everything, and never really has to earn much of any of it. Just has celebrity, wealth, an endless well of special privileges out of the box. He gets essentially everything one typically gets at the end of a hero’s journey at the very beginning.
>>219972765I played it for a while but never felt the magic
>>219972725I couldn't watch the movies after the one where this guy appears. His character just wants everyone dead for no benefit even for himself, zero nuance, and anyways I was just interested in the life in Hogwarts and the magic world, I couldn't care less about this side quest (that became the main quest).
it's simple fantasy, for simple peopleand it got carried hard by radcliffe and watson
>>219973117I’m the opposite. I always thought that the Hogwarts shit was gay as hell, and appreciated he and his minions actually giving shit some stakes. Seeing Lord of the Rings before I was aware of Harry Potter kind of deflated Harry Potter for me. That’s not to say I think it’s bad, but it just feels toothless by comparison.
There's a lot of flaw in it but a lot of good stuff too. Legitimately half of the charm of the book is just how unhinged it is. You have to just accept that some shit just happens, like date rape potion, time traveling, chosen one chad being portrayed as a nerd and general inconsistency because, yes, it's written by an unhinged woman who doesn't care about the bigger picture, but that is exactly why it feels different from books written by people who try to make their setting too believable. Also credit where credit is due, that the book has an ending at all is a fucking miracle. Snape is a good character, and the whole nonsense about the Elder Wand worked.Looking at fat fuck GRRM who literally can't finish a book.
>>219973117He wanted to exterminate the mudbloods, which is based.
The universe is very cool. But Rowling herself is not actually a very good writer and her story got worse the more she was allowed to write. So really, why isn't a talented writer taking over the IP and reviving it with something potentially quality? If they even exist anymore.
>>219972725Name a single scary/cool monster from harry potter. Oh no, a big three headed dog, a big snake, a big spider, a big troll...The only almost cool monsters are the evil mermaids, but they're basically paid actors in a game show.
>>219972725She's preoccupied with her detective series that no one cares about except for when she uses it to lash out at critics.
