Yes. Watch it until Mulder is written out and then decide what to do from there. I Want To Believe is pretty good, but the Doggett seasons and the revival seasons are a mixed bag.
>>

all the funny episodes in s6 and s7 are great. Just find one of those "plot-only" episode guides and skip all the plot episodes because they're awful.

I don't treat the revival seasons as canon, as far as I'm concerned the real ending of The X-Files was them prepping for an alien invasion by rounding up an army of mutants, rebels, demons, and monsters to fight back.

I never liked the X-Files even before it got milked beyond its original plot length. FFS the pilot literally showed you that aliens were real, there was no intrigue, no mystery. Mulder is always right in every episode. The show needed to be a genuine mystery, with most episodes being entirely mundane with only the odd hint of something out of the ordinary sometimes, and only on very rare occasions should Mulder have actually have been proven right about anything.
>>
>>219979970
there is a point where you can tell the tv executives were told to flip the narrative, it initially starts out as aliens are bullshit and its just the government fucking with you even though mulder is desperate for it to be true. as the show got more popular they changed it to
>aliens are totally real bro its not the government
still worth a watch though.
>>
>>219980847
Dark Skies (1996)
>>
>>219988645
That would've made the show a garden-variety cop show.
The entire mystery wasn't "are there aliens?" dumbass, the mysteries were always "what do the aliens want?" "What does our government know about them?" and especially "What happened to Samantha Mulder and is she still out there?"

If you want a show where all the paranormal stuff is debonked as stupid nonsense, I'd recommend Evil since that's the show that people cream themselves over for being "rational" and "pro-skepticism"

>what do the aliens want?
According to the myth arc before Chris Carter retconned it all...they were Earth's original inhabitants, they left and were utterly gobsmacked that humanity suddenly existed when they came back so they've been working on a large scale invasion/genocide, they left Earth initially because they had to go to war with other races in our galaxy and wiped those civilizations out too, it's just they've routinely underestimated that mankind is determined to survive anything that's delayed their plans for so long
>>
>>219985007
Tell me you're a pretentious pseud without telling me you're one
>>
>>219979970
its quite funny and quite sad to see how far society has degraded from the 90s there is a scene in an episode where some tranny is shapeshifting and killing people where scully says
>"I cant imagine people meeting then having casual sex?"
>>
I tried watching it years ago and only made it to season 2. I'm a 90s kid too. Think it's a better show to watch in the winter. I tried in the summer and it just didn't grip me.
>>
>>219989495
There were plenty of whores in the 1990s and before. Scully is just shocked because she grew up in a religious household.

On Fringe they speak about a "old X designation" and Walter says his old friend Dr. Jacoby made his glasses. Also Josie is Walter's mistress in another universe
>>
>>219988915
No you idiot, you completely missed the point. Mulder SHOULD have been proven right, ULTIMATELY, but it should only have become clear near the end of the show. The show should have STARTED as a regular cop show, yes, but eventually ended as, well, the X-Files.
>>
>>219988835
And then they flipped it again

And then they flipped it again
>>
>>219990570
In a more episodic series? Perhaps, but TXF wasn't that. It was half-episodic half-serialized, there needed to be something for the arc
>>
>>219990953
It's barely serialized, out of 22-24 episodes a season like, five were about the myth arc
>>
>>219991671
As it should've been, it's called The X-Files, there's more than just aliens out there.

Which if the Coongler reboot goes through, they'll conveniently forget that
>>
>>219980291
Wrong. Watch all the way through the original series and make up your own mind. I personally liked Season 8 a lot and season 9 was the weakest of the original series but wasn't terrible. Season 10 and 11 on the other hand are terrible.
