I don't treat the revival seasons as canon, as far as I'm concerned the real ending of The X-Files was them prepping for an alien invasion by rounding up an army of mutants, rebels, demons, and monsters to fight back.

I never liked the X-Files even before it got milked beyond its original plot length. FFS the pilot literally showed you that aliens were real, there was no intrigue, no mystery. Mulder is always right in every episode. The show needed to be a genuine mystery, with most episodes being entirely mundane with only the odd hint of something out of the ordinary sometimes, and only on very rare occasions should Mulder have actually have been proven right about anything.

I tried watching it years ago and only made it to season 2. I'm a 90s kid too. Think it's a better show to watch in the winter. I tried in the summer and it just didn't grip me.
