Its a feel good show. Very clear morality system. Good is good, evil is evil. However, it is a "I'll force you to feel things" anime and normies love it which is why its popular with reactors because people love to see them cry. The whole show is basically Frieren goes to X place, and is reminded of something she did 80 years ago with her previous party that somehow teaches her how to handle the current situation with her new party. I liked about half of the first season when it was characters wandering through autumnal forests and having introspective conversations and very small, low stakes adventures. Didn't care for the more generic fantasy adventure stuff like the town that was occupied by demons or the mage exam.

Also, didn't like how, instead of doing their own original world building, it's set in this weird, semi self aware DnD pastiche, where characters sometimes even lapse into tabletop jargon and talk about "dungeons", "mana levels" and "adventure parties".

Like how many more times can Himmel be unknowingly connected to a person or memory she has, it's starting to get a bit ridiculous and very formulaic. If they fast tracked the arc of Frieren letting go of Himmel and be content with finding new love in the now instead of retracing her path and end it. Stories of "I'm glad you did it, because you made an effort even if it turned out bad, and I'm glad I did it even if I didn't like it because we did together" is starting to get recycled hard now already.

The length of the show will probably determine a lot how it's remembered.

there's a lot of projection going on here, I've only watched a handful of boomer anime and tried two of the new isekais that people love and top the charts and bounced off of them after forcing myself to watch 3 episodes for how filled with annoying anime tropes they are and how vapid it felt and how little the characters grabbed me. Frieren was not that, and immediately had a compelling premise with starting with the end of the adventure as a hook, with an immortal character's immortality at its center, just really intriguing. There's a reason it went mainstream beyond weebdom.
