The rest of the film is so gritty and raw, but the poker scenes are just outlandish, more fitting for a Roger Moore entry, with cartoonishly over-the-top tells and cold decks. I also dislike the way Mathis keeps narrating the game to Vesper, as if she and the audience are idiots.

>>219988623>They should have played baccaratYeah, Texas Hold'em was fucking massive at the time, which is clearly why they played it in the movie, and it really dates the film somewhat. The baccarat scene from Goldeneye holds up way better and feels timeless, despite not even being essential to the plot. Gambling has always been part of the Bond aesthetic, but in Casino Royale, it kinda comes across as a little bit clunky and tacky. Great film overall though, don't get me wrong.
Craig had the most visually stylish films, and that counts for a lot with me.
That 3rd is rough, but thats a Bond staple at this point.
