I have only now noticed that this has possibly become Kevin Smith's most popular movie online, and I have to say wtf? I've been out of the loop for a while, so I gotta ask here: Why and how did this happen? And did it end up getting reevaluated on /tv/ too? Because the general consensus that I remember was that it put the man's already frail career into the grave

methinks it's a tiktok meme

i dont know whats popular but I have always praised tusk. it's disgusting and horrible to look at but pure kino. film school zeitgeist stuff is inevitably dated but tusk is timeless.

It's an allegory for a trans person being forced to go through cis puberty

It's legit the only Kevin Smith movie I enjoy, I don't care for Kevin much as a personality or a director. I assume this is the case for many others out there as well, it's sort of an outlier among his catalogue, so maybe this is why OP

i am ashamed to admit that once upon a time, i had actually really liked kevin smith's dogma

The problem was that people took it seriously. The whole movie is supposed to be a fucking joke, like it's clearly a dark comedy, but everybody evaluated it as a serious horror film because they're idiots.

the tone is kind of borderline, the body horror is real and great.

Times you acted like Tusk?

This reveal was excellent. I couldn't stop thinking about it for days.

I ain't seent it but Red State was great and then I phased out of Kevin Smith Flicks. Last year or the year before I watched Jay and Silent Bob Reboot and Clerks 3 and I really enjoyed both of them.
