Not coming away with a conclusion is fine aslong as you validly present an argument against and for both cases. The most important part is that the two arguments actually have to engage with one another. I'm not a philosophy student, I tried taking it in University, I wont explain why it went wrong. But I genuinely love philosophy as a subject and try to read it in my freetime.
Philosophy Tube is just straight up bad and fundamentally doesnt understand philosophy and doesnt represent it honestly (See her Nietzsche video) The reason I know contra is smarter, is because she did something in this video that I kept a close eye for. She actually acknowledged that many people don't consider Jigsaw necessarily a villain and tried to address and explain why. Philosophy tube will use quotes to affirm a preconceived belief. She won't engage with the ideas.

I can't expmain with specifics becauee PTubes videos are so bad I often dont watch them and the Nietzsche video was genuinely horrendous.

Contras use of quotes dont carry the weight of her arguments, the support it not affirm it, its a subtle difference that I dont know how to explain. I was surprised how little philosophy she actually even included, so many of her points later in the video were things I had straight up heard out of Nietzsche or Focaults mouth. But she was able to express it coherently in her own words without leaning on quoted words from either of them, which I half expected.

One of the biggest ways you can tell somebody doesnt understand philosophy is how aggresively they go "X Philosopher says..." as if them saying something justifies the assertion. No, Philosophers build towards their quotes and arguments, its why they write books, not papers and essays, whole entire books just to establish a series of connected ideas.

So many subtle things they do to layer and establish their argument, and even though theres ultimately no directive, or say on how people should approach violence, there is yet still genuine information and a deeper understanding elucidates about how violence manifests, is valued, and at the very least that, we cannot keep going about it how we have. That is a conclusion. Just an uncomfortable one that forces us to actually solve a problem, now that that problem has been clearly laid out indepth in a way that can be understood.

Me neither. But maybe thats because ive moved past the point of valuing raw "truth" as much, and heavily valuing process and thought. I was the guy earlier saying that towards the end of that video, a lot of her conclusions on justice and violence reminded me of stuff Nietzsche and Focault have said, and I say that because I have read enough Nietzsche and lectures on him, as well as Focault that I can recognize that. But what I found valuable about her video is the way she thoroughly explored those ideas in such a new way without needing heavily quote philosophers like somebody who doesnt actually understand them, but wants to invoke them.

Her exploration of violence and justice covered almost all the relevant bases to our modern world, it could have been deeper yes, particularly the part about how rehabilitative justice can actually just be turned into a different form of retributive violence (almost straight from focault, which is why i think it could have been deeper) But I value so much when somebodh lays everything out in the open, rather than trying to "correct" or speak "truth". Because sometimes speaking truth is just "preaching" its not meaningful.

She also made Jigsaws inconsistencies more coherent, and nicely commented on so many disparate topics like the pedohunter obsession. It was just so thorough and welldone imo, maybe not in that "research" way, but in the "relevance" way. And I have a theory of truth about that.
