A daily reminder that "so bad it's good" culture propagated by companies like Vinegar Syndrome, RLM "Best of the Worst", Sam Hyde, Doug Walker, and MST3K is terrible for the soul and one of the tactics they use to demoralize a population.

Whether you participate in Option A or Option B, you are pure scum:

Option A
>"Don't you get it? Buying VINEGAR SYNDROME MOVIES is being part of an INSIDE JOKE!!!!"
>"LOl look at the trailer and all the awkward guttural laugh moments in the movie. How incompetent!"
>"OMG "GARBAGE PAIL KIDS"!? I SAW PEOPLE MAKING FUN OF IT ON YEW TEWB. I WANT TO BE A PART OF THIS UNDERGROUND MOVEMENT."
>"It was entertaining how bad it was"
>"Wait no! My collection of terrible movies is an inside joke! That's not me! No no no!!!!"
>"*I* am a noble consumer who identifies with YORGOS LANTHIMOS films. I was only enjoying those films IRONICALLY."
>"Those low budget outsider movies? Those are for fucking LOSERS. Let's all POINT AND LAUGH at them."
>"People who make non-Hollywood outsider art deserves ridicule!"

This entire culture is simply poison for your soul which Oswald Spengler once said, represents moral rot in a society in its late winter. It's sad seeing zoomers fall into this instead of embrace the most beautiful possible art, art that speaks to virtue, goodness, and ideals. Art that makes us better people for having experienced it. Art that enlightens us, makes us think, and makes us strive to do better.

I honestly believe people like this are in the minority and you are conceiving a group that doesn’t not really exist, at least not in a way that matters. You must be encountering these people online, so if I am wrong and it’s only my perception that there aren’t very many people like this than I question why you seemingly choose to find and interact with them. I love watching so called “bad” films like the kind put out by Vinegar Syndrome because I believe that they are genuinely good by their own merits, not out of a sense of ironically enjoying something. I find most of the culture surrounding these kind of movies agreeswith this framework, at least when you go deeper past shit like Garbage Pail Kids and start watching real movies. When a “bad” movie is actually reductive and poorly executed then I believe it is largely treated as such. Anyone who believes that outsider art outside of Hollywood is in any way invalid is obviously not worth talking to, and I find a lot of love for foreign productions inside the broad culture of “bad” movies, especially those from Italy or Japan due to popular cinematic movements in those nations. Is this mindset the Option B you were talking about, and am I misrepresenting or misunderstanding your argument? Let me know, please.
