zoomers dont understand how big of a let down jew jew abrams jumping the shark and adding the supernatural garbage, was back then. everyone was obsessed with this show worldwide, and the moment they jumped the shark 90% of them just dropped it, thats why you dont see memes or nostalgia surrounding talk about lost similar to house md, it became an obsolete culturally irrelevant artifact

Season 5 is great. The reason season 6, while it still has its moments and I unironically love the end, is bad is because it is rushed. They had to wrap everything up in too few episodes, and the wrap up for characters like Widmore was pathetic and rushed. In fact the entire Widmore subplot that season is the worst part of the season, the new characters that come to the Island are all bad, and it is an unsatisfying wrap up to Desmond's story too. The stuff at the "temple" too, we had heard about the Temple for years on the show and it was exciting thinking we would finally see what was going on there and wow, what a let down. The guy played by Sanada was OK, but everything else there was so dumb and none of the other characters there were named or anything. I guess it was nice seeing what happened to Cindy though and those kids but otherwise pointless. Also god the stupid thing with the submarine, it all felt just so rushed and silly. The "flash sideways" was OK I guess though.

Every episode has to move the plot forwards in some way, there's no more "filler."I mean I get it, 20 episode seasons is a lot these days with how expensive productions are, and yes there was filler even in a show like lost, but that's what made a show like that special, it was nice to have a couple episodes each season that more deeply explored a specific character, or just allowed you to relax and enjoy it and not have some big intense drama happening in an episode. Look at a show like From, a show that's no doubt inspired by Lost and has a few people that worked on Lost running it. Almost every episode is just to move the plot forward in some way, bad shit happens basically every episode, there's no time to just relax or explore any of the characters in a deeper way or add to their characterization, it all has to happen in the context of telling the story and a show like that kind of suffers from the lack of more relaxed storytelling.

Even with 8-10 episode seasons, there still manages to be just as much filler nowadays. But it's never fun filler like this. It's just boring episodes where not much happens.
