Let me explain.
Kiev = Russian pronunciation of a Ukrainian city
Kyiv = Ukrainian pronunciation of a Ukrainian city
Before Ukraine's independence, Russian was the official language, and all place names were transliterated from their Russian counterpart.
Once the war started, Ukraine took initiative to use the Ukrainian version.

Europe is, culturally and human settlement wise, the most kino land on Earth. The problem is TPTB insist on Americanizing the fuck out of it and making each unique cultural identity lost in the melting pot. Globalization and unchecked immigration hit Europe much harder than a younger country and culture like the USA, even though it's had detrimental effects there too. Tolkien was right.

I was there in late October which is the low tourist season. So I didn't get the poo smell, that was something I read about after. World traveler here, the most kino city is actually Prague. It's filmed in a lot but usually disguised as some other place, like in Amadeus it was called Vienna, and in the new Nosferatu it was wherever in Germany that was set. Vienna also ranks pretty high. Paris is pretty great too, the downsides don't outweigh the positives, and honestly if you're an American you're used to far shittier cities being the default anyway.

Anyone who says Tokyo is a delusional weaboo and should be shot. I've been there, it's a soulless concrete dystopia full of clashing architectural styles that are all fuck ugly. It feels like walking around a dirty convention center at closing time.

Also Dresden is pretty underrated.

>I didn't know there was a smaller version to the north of it. What happens there? I'm guessing way fewer tourists.
Murano is famous for its glassmaking, and other related industries, which were “quarantined” on the separate island, due to fears the glass kilns and furnaces created a major fire risk for the main Venetian islands.
Murano is also a tourist destination, and this can be seen in the James Bond film, “Moonraker”.
Apparently, the glass industry on the island has been hit economically, by high European gas prices, because glass kilns have to continuously keep glass molten.
At one point, the glass artisans on the island were basically forbidden from leaving the island, to prevent competition if the skills were transferred elsewhere, but France managed to get dome Venetian glassmakers, who then set ip the French glass industry, resulting in some of the world’s current largest glass making companies, and Saint Gobain, one of the world’s major abrasive manufacturers.

Better paint those roofs blue before they get zapped by goybeams

I have a proposal for the future of global warming: humans should genetically engineer themselves so they can be like dolphins, and build underwater cities. There is a movie in there somewhere, as well. I forthwith relinquish all intellectual property claims on this idea. Run with it. Do as you please. I will not litigate when it becomes a success, I promise.

Dries them up drier than after the Romans razed Carthage to the ground and salted the earth to make sure that nothing could ever even grow there again.

Unless it's the Olympics,, they cleaned that city like San Francisco cleaned up for Xi Jinping.
Showing they can, they just don't want to (because their nice rich neighbourhoods aren't affected by it)

As it is with every single western city. Not sure why people are singling Paris

Because it's supposed to be the city of love and all that. Some people still think of la belle epoque when that shit was literally a century ago.
