10/10 movie and you're a fag if you disagree

Imagine getting filtered by a Billy Wilder joint.

>"I AM based, it's 4chan that got cringe!"
>>

I didn't really like it. I get it was probably the first to do the whole 'actress can't survive transition to talkies' thing, but it seemed so hamfisted and overwrought. I get that is kind a the point, that it is like a silent film in some sense, but I just didn't care for any of it.
>>
>>220025157
i guarantee you haven't seen many billy wilder movies

Honestly I could see a modern remake of it working really well. Have Norma's character be an elder millennial former youtuber who was famous in the late 00s but now lives as a recluse in some big empty mansion insisting they're new video is gonna be a "viral hit"

AYE

It's more about the inherently exploitative nature of Hollywood, not the transition from the talkies. Norma was exploited and cast aside as soon as the money dried up, and she repeats the cycle by taking advantage of Joe when his career is on the downturn. Probably the most cynical American film from the pre New Hollywood days, and one of the most critical of the film industry ever made.

I've seen:
Double Indemnity
The Lost Weekend
Sunset Boulevard
Stalag 17
Seven Year Itch
Witness For The Prosecution
Some Like It Hot
The Apartment

All good

Isn't it about not being able to accept aging
>>
>>220026029
keep going, lil zoom zoom, you'll get filtered once you get to his later slop
>>
>>220026278
If that's what you take from it, sure. I'm with the other anon though: There's much more going on than just "aging". The setting is important, as are Norma's role as an actress of a bygone era and Joe's role of a contemporary (back then) writer.
In a way, it's more about the passage of time (an fashion) than about aging, if that difference is meaningful to you.

Any director who makes 8 kinos to that quality level automatically gets a pass for any missteps later on.

So the problem is (You). Got it.

I didn't like it either. I found it an odd experience that was also strangely boring. I just didn't enjoy any part of it.

If you don't understand why this film is good then you don't have the ability to discern kino and I won't pay any attention to you. Sorry but this is objective reality.
>>
>>220022998
what you call jewish is actually white american culture
>>
>>220031286
>white american culture
Wilder was an Austrian who learned filmmaking in Germany. His films are European culture in every regard, financed with American capital.
Hitchcock was English.
Barely any of your "Old Hollywood" directors were born Americans, and those that were either, as you'd say, sucked arse - or just tried to imitate European cinema.
New Hollywood was when they started to incorporate Japanese filmmaking as well.
>>
Not only are you a fag, OP, you're a fag who was filtered by one of the all- time greats

Oh wow look this retard has seen a Martin Scorcese documentary or something!
>>220025501

>>220027304
Who are these people that go out of their way to watch Sunset Boulevard to then dislike it film school students???
>>220026358
Bruh I just saw this episode of "The Outer Limits" that dealt with the exact same theme called "The Guests"
>>
>>220032444
>Martin Scorcese
And Lucas. More prominently so. Hell, New Hollywood is basically built on fucking Star Wars.

*Roger Corman

>>220022998
I agree it sucked.
>oh no, some hot old bitch wants me to be her boy toy and she will make me rich.
About as stupid as Knock Knock. One of those films made by people in the industry for people in the industry.
