It's on screen for less than a second. Which is kinda the biggest problem I have with that whole sequence. All the action is just too fast and busy. There is no time to let it breath, and there seems like there's no weight behind anything

It's explicitly set up in the original that the moon has lower gravity, while at the same time the Na'vi have extremely strong, reinforced bones. This is all writer's convenience that makes it possible for Na'vi to survive falling from height as long as they can catch onto leaves and shit. Which is exactly what the hero does toward the end in the first one.

>>220030524
>>220030679

This clip is basically just a redux of the final battle from the first movie, but it showcases the same color palette. The final battle in the first movie genuinely blew my mind the first time I saw it. It's well paced but what makes it so much fun to look it is that it has a full and clear color palette. The hero flys a big red dragon (nothing else in the sky is big and red, bit of a target really), the good guys are blue/green/purple, the bad guys are grey/dark green and the big bomber is a large white object (like the space shuttle). All of this is supposed to take place in EARLY MORNING on a clear day, meaning that everything is very bright and clearly lit. Then in the second part they descend to the forest floor where colors are darker.

I've always had mixed feelings about this.
On the one hand, it is such a disgusting smear on the face of an otherwise pretty great movie, a small but thoroughly offensive stain.
On the other hand, if it was the sacrifice that needed to be made to keep the insufferable Captain Marvel from having more then 3 minutes of screentime, then it was probably worth it.

I don't doubt it for a second. It's somewhat common knowledge that the most advanced, experimental, military tech in the US is about 10 years ahead of what we are allowed to know about. This was perfectly illustrated in the Maduro raid, when we decided to just put our military dick on the table and reveal our advanced sonic weapons that just scramble brains at a long distance... And I'm sure the most curent experimental version of this tech is 10 years ahead of what we have seen... But the A10 lead laser is a 40 year old plane, if we go by the final production year. Lockheed had literally 40 fucking years to say "Hey, that's a really cool plane with a super niche and useful role. I'm sure the USAF will pay us a bajillionty dollars if we just make a better A10"

It's definitely underrated kino. Also Susan Sarandon is a fox in this movie, the scene where Speed is channeling the speed force in the finale and her voice is narrating over the action, when she says "When I watch you do some of the things you do... You just take my breath away" gave me an older woman fetish.

lol, the reason you don't see wow-worthy CG anymore is multi-faceted. There has been diminishing returns, but the bigger issues are far greater demand (how many effects heavy films were primarily using CG in 2002 vs. 2002?), off-shoring to jeets (no one is sending work there because they're the best) and garbage productions constantly changing things in post.

The natives were getting their asses kicked by the humans. They were charging machine gun lines on horses getting mowed down. They had no idea how to bring down helicopters. Jake taught them exactly where to hit and gave them explosives to do it. And it's literally happening right now with billions of dollars in tanks and helicopters being destroyed in Ukraine from dinky little drones with an rpg strapped to them

Yes, it's an actual Ghost in the Shell product. The guy is a fully robotic body and even though it looks silly, the context is it's showing robot bodies don't have to move like humans do. They can backflip perfectly upstairs, they can bend legs in abnormal ways and walk like a spider or crab. It's meant to be unformfortable and weird. It looks silly onscreen out of context, but you'd shit yourself seeing a robot do that in reality.
