Yes, I know he had already made a huge impact in the comics, but most people don’t read comics, they just watch movies.After Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight, and then with the release of the Arkham games, Joker fandom hit a fever pitch. And the rag removal scene just absolutely killed that momentum, reduced it to negative, pre ‘89 levels. I really do think it’s over for the character. He’s had his time in the public consciousness. Pick someone else. The Matt Reeves films seem to have accepted it. Maybe Joker can be tried again in 15 or 20 years.
