>putting my big budget scifi and action scripts on hold>will just write a low budget in-the-woods script
Reading the Kung-Fu Panda script as reference materialIt's kinoMan I really wanna write for animation
>>220041025Reading scripts is good, but be careful sometimes the versions you find online are late-production scripts which might have a lot more edits for camera direction and stuff. If you're writing a spec script, you're not supposed to include those details. Sometimes it's hard to find the original versions from the actual writer.
Any recs for fun horror scripts to read? Not really interested in writing one myself, I just like to read.
>>220042841Scream is the ultimate page turner imo
Any anons compete in writing competitions? I think it's a good way to keep your skills sharp, even if you're a seasoned writer. You just have to pick and choose the right comps because obviously not all of them are worth paying for / submitting to
>>220040805in the woods scripts aren't fresh anymore, choose a different setting that's low budget ...... like a theme park or a car park or some other kind of park or something ......
I'm working on a fantasy, sci-fi, horror film. I'm taking my sweet time and I hate it.
>>22004284128 Days Later script is pretty good. I'm reading 28 Weeks Later now.>>220043111Unfortunately... the idea came to me while I was hiking innawoods... so...
>>220043285Is it going to have monsters in it?
>>220043358No. It's not even horror. It's... not entirely sure how to describe it. Suspense + action, maybe? Like a really scaled down version of Die Hard in some woods.
>>220043411Oh, so it's like Rambo?
>>220043464No. The important element of Die Hard is that McClane is a detective but otherwise a regular guy forced into an intense situation beyond his capabilities. I want to write something like that. Except the MC won't be a cop or detective, and it won't be "terrorists" (or a heist).
>>220043574Sounds interesting. Here's hoping you write it well.
>>220043600Thank you. Good luck to you as well. Here's a script for a short I started writing a while back from a random prompt.
>>220038536After the last of these threads, I decided to take another crack at my true story about the early history of Michigan.chapter 1 comes in at ~2100 words; and I think it hints at enough of the story to come to make potential readers want to continue
>synopsis writing general
>>220044597Are you writing a book?
>>220045504Yes. Since I'm not a scriptwriter; my best chance at getting the compete story accurately made is to write it as a book; and hope that someone feels like adapting it.I've got about 20 years worth of research into it. It's a true story, that covers the years 1800-1855 in Michigan. The fun part is... most of the story was intentionally suppressed in the 1880's, so I've uncovered a shit-ton of fun stories that no one has ever heard of.
>>220045751That's cool. Are they scary stories?
>>220042841Tremors is a fantastic script. You can also learn a lot about pacing by reading it and comparing it to the movie to see where they trimmed the fat.
>>220045847No, mostly just crazy/funny stuff; stuff that was cleaned up later for the benefit of the first histories that were written. The story is centered around 2 brothers who built and owned an early Michigan village. The were involved in basically everything, and the story of them (and their associates), cover a ton of under-remembered topics including:> the time that a bunch of americans tried to start a revolution in Canada> the rise and fall of wildcat banking> the financial disaster Michigan suffered after losing $5 millionSee image for one event, when a bunch of women gathered in the middle of the night to destroy the illegal bowling alley that their husbands were spending too much time in.
>>220045243>"its just a synopsis that's not a plot> a three scene film is two more than most>then its a frame work how are you going to even connect them>"has connection ever even mattered were talking about substance here>dialogue you need dialogue >"what happend to a picture saying a thousand word's>people stopped painting every day a million people just like you come up with a million ideas just like your's>"well then its about time they got a voiceprobably going to cut this over a subway surfers edit and call it pre-tension i have high hopes for it
