Movies shouldn't have music in them.Real life doesn't have music, so movies shouldn't have music.Whenever I hear music in a movie it reminds me that I'm watching a movie and it pulls me out of the story.

I also dislike emotionally manipulative music in movies. If you can't direct the actors so their performance makes me feel the intended emotions then you shouldnt be directing at all.

>>220041704I don't think so. His early two films which were classical studio productions did use music, but when he came into his own stylistically he stopped using backround soundtrack alltogether unless it was diegetic music, as in the music actually playing in the setting of the scene.
I can't imagine the Watchmen without All Along the Watchtower, The Bob Dylan intro, or Desolation Row for the credits
