why don't the jedi ever like, put their force powers together. like they could all do a force push at the exact same time and just blow a hole through a wall or something
It was on the surface the apprehension of a guy who looked like a fart could blow him over. There was no way they knew he had any semblance of martial arts/duelling prowess. That, and the Sith had been extinct for over a millenia and by that point, only one "Sith" had been killed in a duel by one padawan knight. They had nothing to base the encounter on beyond ancient manuscripts, legends and teachings.
Most competent Jedi were out on deployment and you can't swarm the room with them without everybody getting in each other's way. Windu brought in the best men on Coruscant for this. Nobody could have predicted one Sith, no matter how strong, taking out most of them within seconds.
