Truly an odd series, as an adaptation it's obviously unfaithful but then the Empire parts of the show despite being completely made up and not in the books at all are consistently some of the most smartly written and enjoyable parts of the show. Meanwhile the Foundation parts that actually try to adapt the book plotlines are filled with generic sci-fi action scenes and stupid dialogue and idiotic decisions that feel like it's from an entirely different show.
It feels like they had their own idea for a sci-fi series and just used Asimov for name recognition, but they also felt the need to smear Asimov's name and make people subconsciously associate his work with bad writing and their work with good writing. Of course I already know what this board is going to say about Asimov so that's why there's not the outrage about it that there should be.
Frankly I think they should have taken the name from the second book and called the show "Foundation and Empire" because there's already a show named Empire and the Foundation plays such an insultingly small role in the show it doesn't make sense to use it as the title.
