Why does the Star Trek reboot trilogy get so much hate?

It's actually pretty good

I thank Christ Almighty my trek dvd collection stops at Nemesis.
>>
2nd movie is shit
3rd movie is dumb
1st movie is great, opening scene is pure kino, unfortunately it only goes downhill after that.

I'm just going to assume you've never actually watched Star Trek then
>>
>>220066754
>1st movie is...
basically Jar Jar Abrams ripping off Star Wars and slapping Star Trek brand on it
>>
>>220066754
>1st movie is great
i'll accept good, not great.
>>
They're OK movies, but they aren't Star Trek movies. So, they're bad ST movies.
>>
>>220066649
they're fun but trek fans were probably expecting something more in line with previous trek films and less flashy and action oriented
>>
>>220066890
The casting was great.

First one is the only decent one. 2nd is so bad I probably forgot half the shit that pissed me off of it.
Third was okay, not bad but not really good either, just kinda there. Idris was fun to watch going nuts.
>>
>>220066649
They are okay movies but they do not capture the essence of Star Trek so fans of the 90s era trek hate it.

I love star trek
I would take these any day of the week over the slop we've had to endure since DS9 ended.

The character resents and greater intensity can be attributed to the timeline reset. The destruction of Romulus has so many potential implications that it's pretty much a one and done explanation for whatever you have a problem with.

Beyond was good for Jaylah

Pretty much this. Though that one scene in 2 make it worth it

>Jaylah was the only thing good in Beyond
ftfy

as a general nerd who had never really interacted with star trek, i thought these movies were fine when they came out, i saw the first one in theaters. later on i watched some of TNG and thought it was okay but nothing worth worshipping
>>
>>220066649
The premise of the first movie is it's an alternate timeline where Kirk grows up fatherless and there's a second older Spock with knowledge of the future, and somehow it feels nothing like Star Trek.
>>
>>220066649
cause they all stink
>>
>>220068440
I masturbated to this character in the theater.
>>
>>220066649
They are alright science fiction action movies. But they don't really respect the existing source material and they do the same low quality pandering/rehashing that the Star Wars sequels and TV shows did under Disney.

Also the whole shiny surface/lense flair aesthetic ended up polluting all of the Trek TV shows from that point onward. Not that it mattered all that much since the TV shows were shit anyway...

I've never watched star trek series and I enjoyed these movies
