Why do Millennials suck off the Star Wars prequels so hard? They are objectively bad films
They saw them as kids and some of them enjoyed them with their parents. GenX saw them as adults. Sith was ok.
I watched the video on my second monitor while doing work over a few days. It was pretty good as background noise.

Still to this day I havnt watched the original trilogy properly because it's outdated shite and terrible acting.

>>220066937He must be pretty young then, because the prequels were well reviled before the RLM reviews, and George Lucas was essentially the whipping boy of nerddom by that point. People blame the RLM reviews because they're the most visible and succinct collection of criticisms against the prequels. Also because, when they hear someone voice a complaint they also heard in the reviews, they assume they're just parroting RLM, rather than considering that more than one person can make the same observation about a movie.

Remember when there was no fucking reason why the Trade Federation would blockade a planet in protest of space route taxes and when this was pointed out by nerds, LucasArts shat out books explaining why the Trade Federation would blockade a planet with no real resources by stating that Tattooine was absolutely vital to the entire Republic because they produced *squints* plasma. That's why they were vital. They were an energy producer of *squints* plasma. Was this mentioned ANYWHERE in the films? No. But if you read Book 11, 13, 17 and the Locations Of The Star Wars Prequels Book 3 then you can see that the planet was vital in producing *squints* plasma, which is why it was so vital for the Jedi to go there and why an entire Trade Federation was stopping trade and risking other trade issues... Because, again, *squints* plasma. Such a vital resource in a galaxy spanning empire which, presumably, has technology.
How does Mr. Plinkett's dick feel up your ass?
>>220066694>Maybe if I keep saying it, it'll become trueYou're watching the narrative escape you in real time and it terrifies you. No amount of ad hominem, shaming, appeal to majority, or lying seems to be working. People STILL love these movies. >Why won't they listen to me? Why won't they stop liking them. It was so easy before, I just had to tell them and they listened. Why? Why?
>>220066937Genuinely fuck RLM for starting this shit. They ruined Star Wars.
>>220066694I re-watched them recently and they aren't that bad when viewed as a whole. None of them work as individual films
>>220071386It's wild when you realize those are Bob Iger's feet.
>>220066694>They are objectively good filmsHow do you know that?
>>220066694Episodes I and II are good despite their flaws. At least II is. The problems with I were more invasive, but that movie could have been cleaned up with still keeping the story. There is a good movie in the Phantom Menace. The only one that's truly bad was III. No amount of cutting things out would have saved that movie. It needed to be completely rewritten. It dropped the ball all across the board. It's still very well directed for the most part, visually stunning, and has a great score, so it's not completely bad. But the way gen Z acts like this is the best film of the trilogy or even the entire saga baffles me. It's barely better than the Last Jedi, and is above it only for cosmetic reasons like the ones that I mentioned. As for why I like them, I was the perfect age for each one when they came out. I a few weeks shy of turning five when the Phantom Menace came out, so I was the target audience for that one, and I was almost eleven when Revenge of the Sith came out, so I was born at exactly the right time to enjoy them. But I do think the Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones got too much hate. How can you truly hate something as lively as the Phantom Menace? A lot of that movie is straight up impressive. As for Attack of the Clones, it's almost perfect aside from the dialogue. But then amazingly, Revenge of the Sith embodies all the worst details of I and II while also having the worst story, and somehow everyone loves that one because they're allowed to.
they were great when we watched them in theaters as kids. I didn't even know they were considered bad movies until I was an adult
>>220071387>None of them work as individual filmsThat's not indicative of how good a film is. The Empire Strikes Back doesn't work as a standalone film. The only one that really does is a New Hope, and that's because there was no guarantee that there would be a sequel.
>>220071387>I re-watched them recently and they aren't that bad when viewed as a whole. None of them work as individual filmsPhantom Menace is an objectively bad film, even as part of a series. If TPM was the first Star Wars movie ever released, there would never be a sequel. Stand-Alone, TPM is boring, ugly, poorly-executed, and frankly not very interesting. Duel of Fates is the only redeeming part, and it’s not enough to save it. However, I didn’t mind the politics or the Trade Federation subplot, but it’s not well executed either. The pod racing sub plot just frankly sucks and goes on too long. The Trade Federation trying to assassinate the Jedi diplomats was an interesting plot point that basically gets dropped. It’s like one of the only time in the movies where we see Jedi actually try to be peace keepers / diplomats, and it lasts 30 seconds. Anakin flying the Starship is boring and predictable, Cartoon Network-tier writing.>Duh magic baby pilots the fighter jet perfectly and saves the dayWow, very interesting. Jar Jar obviously sucks as comic relief, even by kids movie standards. Like not even funny to a 10 year old boy. TPM is just straight up indefensible and would have earned $5 at the box office if Star Wars wasn’t a household-name already. The Clone Wars is a lot of cool ideas mixed together into an unfocused pot of meh. The series would have unironically been better if TPM was reduced to 5min at the beginning of the Clone Wars, and the Clone Wars was stretched into 2 movies (with better execution). All you need from TPM is finding Anakin, Duel of Fates, and Qui-Gon’s death. Then timeskip to Clone Wars time. Still, I think a lot of the elements of TCW could have been a master piece. Which is evidenced by the fact that the TV Clone Wars was basically the best animated series that Star Wars ever shitted out (they’ve done like 20 at this point).ROTS feels like Lucas is finally figuring it out, which sucks cuz that’s at the very end
>>220066937A lot of retarded people have this take. Razorfist, is one.
>>220072792Arguing that TPM is better than ROTS is just contrarian retardation. There is barely anything redeemable in TPM. As evidence for how bad TPM is, people say the villain is the most redeeming quality of the movie, and Maul literally doesn’t say a word the entire movie. The best part of the movie is the villain who has literally zero personality whatsoever. Just cuz everything else was pointless and also sucked.TPM was “Filler: The Movie.” It was 2 hours of inconsequential stupid that only moved 3 plot points>Found Anakin>Gave him a crush on Padme>Killed Qui-GonArguing that ROTS is worse, especially when the interactions between Anakin and Obi-Wan are somewhat enjoyable, is just not a serious opinion.
>>220071137it's the spice of star wars, anon.
>>220069038The clone wars or attack of the clones?
>>220073148>Jar Jar obviously sucks as comic relief, even by kids movie standards. Like not even funny to a 10 year old boy.I was roughly five when that movie came out and I was just disappointed by him because I thought that he was going to be evil. But I liked the rest of the movie enough that I didn't really mind.>the TV Clone Wars was basically the best animated series that Star Wars ever shitted outIf you're talking about the CGI series, I hate it. It's the most juvenile shit with the words Star Wars on it. The 2D series that ran from 2003-2005 is actually great and has the coolest lightsaber fight in all of Star Wars.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWSWBRfZ0vA&t=16s>ROTS feels like Lucas is finally figuring it outIt's the most chaotic and idiotic Star Wars movie he made and it leans into the goofy slapstick element of the Phantom Menace but way heavier and more over the top than that movie did and has worse dialogue than Attack of the Clones. I have no idea why people say this.
>>220066694I agree they suck. It’s for sure a nostalgia thing. What’s really scary is that the Disney sequels will go through this same process one day. They have already had a very similar arc, they came out to massive fanfare and acclaim but then people immediately realized they sucked before they were even done the trilogy and then once they were done they were a complete joke. They’ll probably stay that way for about ten more years and then autisitic Gen Alphas will start passionately defending them online the way autistic millenials and zoomers did the prequels.
>>220066694OT is bad too. But PT has memes.
>>220066694>Millennialssource? you know how old that YouTuber is?
>>220066694Bad in what way? They got great visuals and great soundtrack, they got great action scenes and set pieces and shitWhat am I supposed to hate exactly? That the dialogue is bad? Don't careThat the acting is bad in some parts? Don't careNeither of those things make a good movie
>>220073299The story makes sense and the characters all act like they've been lobotomized. And the battle droids aren't there solely for comic relief. I swear to god, the sound of Jar Jar getting electrocuted when he sticks his head between the engines in the Phantom Menace is used for the sound of a battle droid getting demolished. What the fuck was that? The dialogue is worse, it's campier than the other two while still being excessively dark in a way that doesn't seem in character, no one acts natural, it's feels more stationary than any other Star Wars movie, and the whole storyline is idiotic. It's worse than I and II in every way you can imagine. But the critics decided to say that it was good, so I guess everyone says it's the best movie of the trilogy because they feel like they're allowed to or something. Either way, it's the worst movie of the original saga and is on the verge of being sequel-level bad.
>>220073688I don’t even understand what you like about them. They have horrible action and the “great set pieces” are just green screens with drawings projected on them. The “fight scenes” are dogshit. The Prisoner of Zenda has better choreographed and more exciting and fun sword fights and it was made in 1937
>>220073505You can argue that animated Clone Wars sucks, but Star Wars does not have a better animated series, so it still wins. The original Clone Wars animation only ran for like 2 hours, so it doesn’t count.TPM has terrible dialogue. From JarJar fart jokes to Maul having literally no words, there’s just no good dialogue anywhere in it. Like I said before, Maul is people’s favorite character from that movie, and it’s only because Lucas didn’t give Maul any bullshit to say.ROTS has some good moments. TPM doesn’t really. People just always point to Duel of Fates, which is funny because Lucas’s shitty characters finally shut the fuck up and fight, and it’s everyone’s favorite part of the movie. Just more evidence that the writing and dialogue was terrible.
>Defending RLM >Defending the sequels These people are paid right?
>>220069068I don't know why it failed among normalfags, but to me the set up is all wrong, from the start. They wanted to play safe, by rebooting OT, essentially, but this doesn't work with how OT ended in the first place. ST should have been less about naive idealism of OT, but way more gritty, with political fallout of Sheev kicking the bucket, splinter factions out of ass and wars for power. Also, ditch gay and retarded rule of two and have more sith around, Old Republic style. In general, sith are the only interesting part of SW, but they are not utilized well enough, just as over the top evil space wizards. When you could explore and subvert them in different ways, more interesting ones, that EU sometimes does.
>>220073767>Lucas' dialogue is horribleAlmost every single line from OT is quotable, almost every single line from PT is quotable, almost every single line from Indy movies (1-3) is quotable. You just don't like his writing because you're an edgelord that wants grimdark shit.
>>220073290Man Razorfist has a lot of contrarian opinions
>>220073828Yeah, Disney barely even promoted the sequels when they were coming out. All their promotion was for the original trilogy. Like "Remember these movies? You like them, right? They're ours now." They didn't even give a fuck about their own movies. The sequels were just advertisements for the original trilogy. That's why it's impossible for anyone to actually care about the sequels.
>>220073913A lot of famous catchphrases came out of the prequels? All I remember a few that got mocked for being dogshit like “now this is podracing” and the sand thing.
>>220073709All your criticisms of ROTS also applies to TPM and then some. TPM’s plot is terrible, from the Jedi gambling over slaves to the pod race to Anakin’s magic pilot powers, just all stupid bullshit, terrible dialogue, and filler. It looks bad. It’s boring. It somehow drops the interesting plot elements in favor the Gungan subplot (who gives a shit) and the pod racing subplot (surprise, magic Anakin wins. This could have been a 30 second subplot). Qui-Gon’s bonding moment with Anakin is autistic rambling about Midichlorians which sounds like Lucas doing a Q&A session with nerds at comic con rather than plot development.>Here’s how the force scientifically worksThanks, nobody asked and this belonged in a Star Wars Guidebook, not the fucking movie during a pivotal character bond development.Even as a trashy kids movie, it fails. It’s not funny. The interactions between baby Padme and baby Anakin aren’t cute. The cool stuff that kids love like light saber fights are barely in the movie.>I wanna see more podracingSaid no middle school kid ever.ROTS is flawed, but what is there even to like about TPM?
>The prequels are hated so much that all sequel shit eventually started pandering to prequel fans
>>220073913>Making meme-able phrases is good writingYep, this is the high-level discourse I expect from /tv/. Do you also hate sand?
>>220074049Also, the gambling for Anakin is my favorite part.>I can’t just steal Anakin from this slaver>I can’t just mind trick the slaver>I must earn Anakin from the slaver fair and square>By gambling>Which I will also cheat at>But I can’t take his mom cuz that would break the rulesLiterally just such a stupid ass pull all to achieve a lame ass scene that’s still inconsistent to Qui-Gon’s character.
>>220069180What are they destroying
>>220074049>Said no middle school kid ever.u fuckin wot m8? That's one of the two things kids universally loved about the movie. All the space opera shit went straight over their heads but the podrace sequence and the final battle against maul were 100% what they were all there for. I feel like I have to be misunderstanding your intent there but I can't see how. You cannot be seriously arguing that kids didn't go nuts over the podracing shit. The podracing tie in videogame and arcade cabinet did gangbusters back then.
