>I studied Santeria and certain other things that squares like you would call the black arts due to lack of understanding, from Chano Pozo in New Orleans. You say you'll mess me up? I don't have to make those childish threats. I do my thing and one day you wake up wondering: "Why do I have this pain in my side?" Or maybe it won't even be that specific. Maybe it's: "Why is nothing going right for me? My life is a big bowl of shit. I don't remember making this big bowl of shit." Meantime, Roland Turner is a thousand miles away, laughing his ass off. Think about that, Elwin. In this car, bad manners won't work.

No one does it like the Coens. Please, G*d, let them make at least one more film together

You'd need my teeth or hair for that to work, sublime.

where is the contrast?

The way Goodman delivers that monologue is unreal. It’s not even loud or theatrical, it’s just this smug, conversational menace. Only the Coens could make a guy calmly talking about Santeria on a bus feel more threatening than Anton flipping a coin.

Also the lighting in that scene is so sick. Everything’s washed out and sickly green like the world already smells bad before anything even happens. Absolute masters of tone. Even their "minor" movies clear 99% of directors’ best work.

If they never team up again it’ll be the end of an era. No one else balances biblical dread and Looney Tunes timing like them.

It's not "they", it's Ethan and his dyke wife. Yes, he's married to a lesbian and they have an open marriage
