How do you rank the Law & Order detectives? Obviously Briscoe is king but I think Max is seriously underrated. Season 1 had a whole different vibe but I liked how Max was a real hardline social conservative. It’s a character you really don’t see much unless they’re just there to be torn down. After he left there wasnt anyone similar until ADA Carmichael in season 9.

>not counting the new show
1. Briscoe
2. Greene
3. Fontana
4. Fat guy from season 1 and 2
5. Anthony Anderson
6. Lupo
7. The Girl
8. Logan, better in CI.
9. Falco
10. Curtis, "I love my dying wife but I
am going to cheat on her every chance I get"

You got your characters flipped Mike the tall one was the conservative, Max the fat one was the liberal.
>>
>>220070844
Mike was a lib just like the actor is IRL. He only was ever tough on White guys.
>>
>>220070844
Max was literally in tacitly in support of bombing abortion doctors
>>
>>220070916
Mike is the conservative, half of his episodes are "muh catholic upbringing"
He was replaced with Ray who's just a more flawed version of Mike.
You're just looking at them from a 2026 viewpoint, in 1990 the shit Max was saying on tv was unheard of for prime time NBC.

>2.Greene
I guess if you’re into angry black men constantly triggered by microgressions with a weird CIAesque background that lets him speak a bunch of languages and know a bunch of random dumps of knowledge when the plot demands it
>>
>>220071076
Are you describing Lupo?
>>
>>220071062
Mike was conservative in relation to Briscoe, but Max was way right of Mike. I forget which Cerreta was off the top of my head.
It’s like how Jack McCoy was right of Claire/Jamie but way left of Carmichael. I think Robinette might’ve been right of Stone but I’m not sure
>>
>>220071193
Didn’t Greene speak Arabic and live in the Middle East? He’d always have weird esoteric knowledge out of nowhere too, I just assumed it was some CIA shit
>>
>>220071282
Cerreta was against arresting the couple that let their kid die from strep because they had religious objections to modern medicine, until he found out it wasn't the only child they had let die and that both of them independently questioned their own position before doubling down. He was definitely more sensitive to family and faith issues than Logan.
>>
>>220071549
Logan was an abused child so that might be an isolated example, although now that I think about it I’m pretty sure he was less accepting of gays (but not as vocal as Max) so you’re probably in the right ballpark

Paul sorvino was my favorite after lenny

Briscoe's the GOAT because his alcoholism indirectly killed McCoy's waifu.
Fuck McCoy.

Fontana was underrated too. Apparently the actor used to be an actual detective in Chicago. But by the time he joined the show the scripts were starting to decline.
>>
>WELL IF IT AIN'T THAT SON OF A GUN JACK MCCOY! I ain't seen you since you was knee-high to a grasshopper. Back down in the bayou my granpappy ran the local saloon and we fine god-fearing townspeople would lynch any man who so much as stole a plate of mama's fried catfish, but up here it seems like you big city folks with your big city ways accept all kinds of crazy people.
I liked the subtle ways the writers implied he was a southern conservative. Probably takes two or three watches to spot the nuances.
>>
I enjoyed pretty much all of them in the original run except for Bernard. He never felt like he fit in, and his character always had a solution to randomly pull out of his ass when the writers were too lazy to do a better job. The show was on its last legs at that point anyway. He just happened to be the worst part about it. Lenny and Logan are the best, especially together. Lenny was the GOAT.

I think I liked Lenny and Curtis’ dynamic a little better than him and Logan. They butted heads a lot more. But Curtis was way too hot to be a NYC detective
>>
>>220072848
You're right, he and Curtis did have fantastic chemistry.

My boy bobby goren is king of new york! Nicole Wallace is the best villain.

Was it ever said explicitly they fucked?
>>
>>220070801
Curtis never cheated.
>>
>>220075177
I mean not explicitly but it’s danced around so much it’s hard to even call it “implied”
>Independent Counsel William Dell: You're hardly an impartial witness. Wasn't he a passenger in a car driven by another one of your lovers at the D. A. 's office when she was killed? Wasn't he drunk at the time? The accident report indicates that he was. Now, one last time, Mr. McCoy, what is the name of your witness, and what did they tell the police?
>Jack McCoy: Mr. Dell, have you no shame? Have you no shame?

The creators of this show shit on southerners, Christians, conservatives, blue bloods, and all the other expected targets every chance they got. It's so blatant.
>>
>>220075033
D'Onofrio caused a controversy on the set because he raged about President Bush all the time. Huge loudmouth lib.

The early episodes shit on everyone, all idealogical bents. All except the fine men and women of the NYPD and Manhattan District Attorney’s office.
>>
>>220075748
Oh, you mean the guy that sent thousands to their deaths based on a lie and misinformation? That bush?
>>
>>220075105
Sometimes they did but it was usually them holding steadfast on their innocence. Invoke your right to remain silent and ask for a lawyer. That guy that confessed to his dad's murder even though he was alive got threatened with his dog being put to sleep if he didnt confess and they still sent the dog to the pound!
