both leftist and right wing comedians(from the fat 4chan retard with glasses to the other fat 4chan retard with glasses and from rogan to maron) hate this guy with so much fervor ...apparently crowd work is a graver sin than even taking money from saudi torturers or murder and rape in the comedy world

When television was the main medium through which stand up comedy was disseminated, comedians had to work the road for ten years before networks (HBO & Comedy Central) would even look at them. Then when they did get featured on a tv show or get a special, the job was to be as funny as possible to as many people as possible. What the internet did was make comedians work the algorithm; they could establish an audience before they had the experience to back it up. Furthermore, being funny is largely incidental. What matters now is can you make the audience perceive that you are their friend (when you absolutely are not). We are in the era of cute comics. They aren’t funny but then no one is demanding that they be. They’re innocuous, advertiser-friendly, they say the right things and if they ever slip up they apologize immediately. Their deliberately offensive counterparts are no better- their audiences don’t require them to be funny so long as they’re offensive. It’s all about finding an audience and pandering to them. That’s what the algorithm rewards.

crowd work is cringe and extremely lazy, instead of writing sets like respectable comedians these fucks are like "oh man i'm so funny i'm such an artist I can just talk to people and It'll be hilarious, I'm like improvising bro, I'm like Bill Burr that time he talked shit to that crowd, oh man I don't need to write jokes like those stiff dorks"

the thing is, he actually does write a lot of jokes. its just that most of the most viral clips are of crowdwork. i dont know what percentage of time in a show is spent on written/crafted material and how much is dedicated to crowdwork, but he does do both.
