i want to say gladiator but i think thats his most memorable he really did do that part justice

i think gladiator is his greatest achievement if not his greatest performance

master and commander is a career progression in the same vein he is lightyears ahead as an actor but again he just does the part justice i dont think its his best role

btw im not takeing anything away from him here if he didnt play it how he did they wouldnt be the films they are but i imagine as he got older he would have done things a little differently

but then you dont have the lightning kek

I think his performance in The quick and the dead was really good, that movie is an underated 90's classic, and i think it was his first big hollywood film that probably helped his career and casting a lot
>>

>in gladiator hes flat
I thought this too when I first watched it. Hell, I didn't even like the movie all that much other than for the spectacle.
Rewatching it, and especially after the shitshow that was Gladiator II, gave me a lot of apprecation for the story being told, the dialogue, and the performances.
Really hard to imagine anybody else in that role.
>>
>>220074896
yea it is flat but its also genuinely good we cant have everything but my god is it good

i think the idea might of been hes to hardened or something but when a film is that good you dont need to focus on what could have been its kino

This was a very good performance. Anyone seen Nuremberg? He's supposed to be good in it
>>
Cinderella Man
>>
His best performance is Göring in Nuremberg, but the performance is trapped inside a stock courtroom drama and he has to share most of his scenes with the execrable Rami Malek.

even when i say hes "flat" (he is) if he wasnt what would we loose the fact is 26 or however many years later russel crowe is gladiator lol

and you could watch that today and still be in awe

his performance is legendary pure lightning
>>
>>220075020
by contrast jaqoleen is electric and i still only think of russels gladiator rofl
>>
>a quarter century later, curly-moustache wops are still riding high on Gladiator

It's a decent action romp, but let's not get carried away here.
>>
>>220075215
ha its an epic action romp
in fairness its no lawrence of arabia but i watched

babalyon the other day and it really is like when films got sound

>turned down the role of Wolverine because the armor he wore for 5 minutes in the beginning of Gladiator had a wolf on it and he didn't want to be typecast as a wolf guy or some retarded shit
Think he regrets it?
