I think like 1 person died from radiation at fukashima and other than the very, very early nuclear accidents like the demon core, no one in the US has ever died from a nuclear reactor accident and people live in heroshima and nakasaki unless you are like right on top of the reactor the issue is the dust and radiation is also cumulative so it's not great to hang out in a radioactive place and certain radioactive particles last longer than others
