He always goes on about not caring if your movie is pretentious but then admits the ending of Apocalypse Now was random and that the entire concept was pretentious in the true sense of the word: he was in over his head.

finally watched Hearts of Darkness, it was in fact very kino, I want a similar movie about Fitzcarraldo, or maybe Aguirre
I don't remember the ending. The was some slow motion scene of them hacking up a cow? That seems pretentious. Frankly the movie was a massive letdown after Full Metal Jacket which itself was only half a good movie
